It was approximately 6am when Seonghwa's alarm went off, blaring through his phone's speaker to signal him to wake up— which he did after trying to sleep through the horrid noise, before his hand blindly tried to shut the alarm off, failing miserably.Him not wanting to wake up was really an understatement. He was just so comfortable, rolled up in his soft sheets and dreaming about who knows what. He just wanted to stay there forever dreaming about his chimeric ideas— but he just couldn't and had to face his first day of college.
So his puffy eyes hardly opened, the light coming off the window blinding him completely. He grunted, rolling up to the side of his bed to look at his calendar, the picture of his idol starring right back at him."Hongjoong, please get me through the day."
And with that, he stood up, messy hair and sleepy face still very present in this early morning. He waddled all the way to his bathroom and brushed his teeth, trying to erase the last bits of sleepiness visible. That done, he then proceeded to put his make-up on, adding small glitters to make his sharp eyes softer. After what felt like ages, he went back to his room, the closet to be specific. He stared blankly at the opened doors, trying to fight the urge to not put on the ugly uniform.
Seonghwa defined himself as a true fashion icon, and his new college was going to revoke that self-acclaimed title; take his card and smash it into oblivion. He just really enjoyed breaking gender norms, inspiring himself and others on social media all while rocking glitters and platforms, he loved to be free. He was always an unapologetic kid and grew up to be an unapologetic young man, so proud of himself; fashion was his way to show it.
So why was he obligated to wear this hideous, repulsing, appalling.. thing?
Snapping out of his thoughts and after debating with his mind, he finally grabbed the too big, dark green pants along with the white shirt and blazer with the same color as the pants, topping everything with a red tie. As he was putting it on, he heard a loud banging on his door, making him jump in place. Good god!
"Park Seonghwa! Hurry up or you're going to be late! God knows you don't want to be late on your first day, right?."
"Coming mom! don't worry."
He proceeded to look at his phone, smiling softly at the view of his lock screen; which was quickly replaced by a frown as he saw the time shown on the bright screen. A gasp escaped his mouth and he hurried to put on the mandatory black shoes, not forgetting to shove into his school bag random notebook and pens. He hurried down the stairs; almost slipping in the process, and looked apologetically at his mom, the latter only sighing and handing him some food.
"Have a good day mom, love you so much too!"
He then ran out of his house, hearing the faint laugh of his mother vanish as he came closer to the bus stop, whom had just arrived. Plugging on his earphones, he put his playlist on shuffle who, without real surprise, played Treasure by Kim Hongjoong. He flashed a sweet smile at the bus driver who quickly returned it before Seonghwa went to the back of the vehicle, plopping down after running for clearly more than what he was used to. His gaze shifted to the view outside, mainly composed of grey buildings and small convenience stores, so sad. A pout formed on his face.
Why was it so sad, so lifeless? he just wanted to spread colors and happiness all around him, but he knew he couldn't, society conditioned people to be like that, forgetting their own well being for the sake of work and money, thinking that it will make them happy in the future, but what about now? people either lived in the past or in the future, only a few thought about the present and how they can be free. He was like that before, but it changed, he's a new person now and anything related to the past was dead to him.
Shaking his head, he realized they had finally arrived to his new school and everyone was getting out to greet friends or just get in the said building. In Seonghwa's case, a mix of excitement laced with straight up fear slowly built in the pit of his stomach, making him almost unable to get off that freaking bus. The thought of being in a new place without anyone to talk to, having no marks in this place and so on.. What if people bothered him? Oh, just kick them in the balls.
Stepping down the stairs of the bus, he took a final look in front of him as well as a deep breath before finally entering the huge building.
