Sunlight streamed through my window, biting at my tired eyes. I almost regretted going out last night. I couldn't decide if the experience had been good or bad.

I almost fell as I got out of the almost too comfortable bed and made my way to the door. I had to go talk to Andrea, or Torryn, someone. About the new prophecy, about the old, about what we saw on the other side of the cliffs. I needed my mind to be at ease.

However, when I swung the door open, the first thing I saw was Max. Leaning up against the wall, across from my room door.

"What are you doing?" I almost closed the door again, wanted to retreat back to bed.

"Waiting for you." He smiled slightly, "I wanted to apologize... for everything. Every since Kaleo and these powers I've been all messed up, and that's not fair to you. I understand if you don't want to stay on this planet, I just don't know where else we could go."

"Who's Kaleo?" I frowned at the name I hadn't heard before.

"Oh, uh," he looked embarrassed, fiddling with his fingers. "He's the voices, the alien... But that's not my point. What I'm trying to say is sorry, if you all want to leave, it's not my decision to make."

"If I knew what was going on here, I might be fine to stay. It's all the secrecy and confinement that I can't stand." I sighed, tightening my ponytail, "I'm thinking about going out again tonight, will you come?"

"Yes," the word seemed like it caught in his throat.

"Max!" A voice called from down the hall and we both jumped. Zillah strutted towards us, cape billowing out behind. "I've been waiting downstairs."

"Sorry, we were just talking." Max gestured to me.

"But it's ok, we're done now. Go for your walk." My fake smile towards Zillah was bitter sweet. She nodded once, her smile looked more like a grimace. Max gave me a wave and a knowing look before they walked off together, so close they could be holding hands.

I rolled my eyes and continued on my path to Andrea's room. I didn't knock, she never did. Instead, I chucked a pillow at her sleeping figure.

She shot up and of her bed, eyes crazed, a knife in hand.

"Hey," I held up my hands and backed up, "what are you doing with a knife?" Her eyes softened as she lowered the blade and placed it on her bedside table.

"It helps me sleep, never can be too careful. It's the only reason I've survived this long." She shrugged, sitting back down on her bed, "Why are you waking me up again?"

"I'm going back out to find out more tonight, will you come?" I sat down beside her, eyeing the knife carefully.

"I think I'm going to look more into that prophecy. I understand you want to figure out what's going on here, but I just want to get off this planet. And once we fulfill the prophecies, we can do that." She patted my leg before standing up and heading to her closet. "I'm taking Estelle to the old library to see if we can find anything else."
