"You fucking suck," William laughed as we both watched the bowling ball roll down the gutter. I rolled my eyes and turned around, walking towards my seat as I sat next to William.

It was a tradition between William and I since we were younger to come here during the break and because the bowling place wasn't as busy as we had expected, we were able to play at our favorite lane which happened to be the center lane.

"You suck just as much as I do," I pointed out to him as I ran my hand through my hair. The tips of my hair were longer than usual– an indicator that it was time for me to get a haircut. I brought my hand to the front pocket of my jeans, where I let my hand rest.

William stood up and flipped me off as he went over to choose a bowling ball, "Watch and learn," he said confidently as he walked over to the lane and positioned himself. He swung his arm back and threw the bowling ball. We both froze in place as we watched the ball roll down the lane and then slowly roll to the right, ultimately rolling down the gutter.

My chest rumbled with laughter as I watched William's disappointed face walk towards me. He was all talk, but when it came down to it he failed just like I thought he would.

"I thought you were gonna show me how it's done," I laughed even harder when he looked over at me and sent me a death glare. He sat across from me this time, so I had a perfect view of his face.

"Fuck you," he glared at me, but his lips twitched upward into a grin and next thing I knew, he was laughing alongside me. "We both suck," he admitted as he took out his phone and tapped away on the small device. I nodded in agreement, but deep down I knew I was better.

I stood up and grabbed the same blue ball I had been bowling with for the past twenty minutes and positioned myself in front of the lane. I swung my arm back and released it as the ball was launched onto the lane, and for once, the ball didn't end up in the gutter. Instead, I was able to knock off a couple bowling pins – more than William had done since we arrived.

A huge grin was plastered on my face as I walked back towards William, "And that's how you do it," I smiled smugly at him. He had been the one trying to show off since we got here, but I was obviously the better bowler.

He scowled, "You got lucky," he rose and grabbed his bowling ball as we both looked up at the scoreboard. For the first time, numbers besides a 0 were displayed on the board and I noticed that William seemed more motivated to beat my score. He positioned himself and let the ball fly into the lane. We both watched it roll down as it struck a single pin.

I suppressed a grin as I watched him slowly walk over to me. Rather than sitting across from me, he sat next to me, an odd expression danced across his face.

"What?" I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion. What was the sudden change in mood?

"Don't look right now, but–" he said at the same time I looked around the bowling alley, but unable to find the source, I whipped my head back around to him, waiting for him to finish.

He smacked the back of my head, "I told you not to look yet, drittsekk," he rolled his eyes and let out a deep breath of air, "Eva just walked in with Lukas," his eyes analyzed my face, waiting to see if I'd have some sort of reaction.

My mouth was set into a tight, thin line as I looked over my shoulder trying to get a sight of her and Lukas. My eyes roamed around the place until I  caught sight of the back of a girl's head, her caramel colored hair rested on her back. I knew it was her– I knew the back of her all too well and even her hair, her hair that always smelled deliciously good. I didn't have to see the front of her to know it was Eva. Lukas was standing right next to her, too close to her might I add.

A smirk formed on my lips as I thought about how I could potentially sabotage their hangout, date, whatever it was, "We should go say hi," I looked over at William expectantly.

"Fuck it," he shrugged his shoulders, "Our time is almost up anyways," he said as he got up and made a show of rubbing his hands together.

The two of us walked over to the counter where Eva and Lukas were standing– their backs to us. They were patiently waiting for the young man on the other side of the counter to take notice of their presence so that they could rent out bowling shoes.

"Excuse me," William called the guy over at the same time Lukas and Eva looked in our direction. From the corner of my eye, I could see the both of them silently watching William and I. The guy looked over at William and quickly walked over, "What's the smallest shoe size you guys have?" William asked and I couldn't help but find it funny that out of everything he could have said, that was what he had asked.

The guy cocked his head to the side, silently eyeing William, "Um.. I don't know. I think it's maybe a four," he shrugged his shoulders, his face completely blank of any sort of expression.

William only nodded in acknowledgment and then stepped to the left, "accidentally" bumping into Lukas. "Sorry!" He exclaimed and then composed himself when he "realized" it was Lukas, "Oh shit. What's up bro?" William reached over and gave him a bro hug. A pang of jealousy rippled throughout me as I saw them embrace. I knew he didn't mean it, but it bothered me nonetheless that my best friend was on good terms with Lukas, it made me feel as if I didn't have him completely on my side. Not only that, but it still bothered me to this day that William had let him join the Penetrators with such ease.

"Hey," Lukas smiled, he seemed happy to see William, but when his eyes darted from William to me, his smile faltered. His lips twitched upwards into what seemed like a forced smile. "What's up," he nodded towards me.

I didn't say anything only returned the nod. My attention shifted from Lukas to Eva, only now realizing that she was oddly quiet and was keeping to herself this entire time we were exchanging hello's, more or less. "Hei, Eva," I gave her a tentative smile that I wondered if she'd return. It had been, after all, two weeks since Lukas's party and two weeks since Eva and I had talked.

I watched her closely as her gaze shifted from Lukas and William, to me. Her tongue swiped along her bottom lip before answering, "Hei, Chris," a small, polite smile formed along her lips as she looked at me and then looked at William, "Hei, William."

William murmured a "hello" and started speaking to Lukas about some Penetrators stuff that I had no interest in being a part of, my eyes and mind were on Eva.

I had not even the slightest idea as to what had gone wrong between us. The last time I had seen her was at the party with Lukas, and right after that we had gone on our school break so it wasn't like I could see her in math class.

It wasn't unusual for Eva and I to go a week without communication, but now it had been two weeks and it was starting to nag at me that something wasn't right.

I intended to find out what was going on.
