They appear in Faery. Kat has to practically break her neck to see Vex. Vex’s true form is around 30 feet tall. Vex walks to her table. Kat and Krypt stumble over as they look around the great room, black crystalized walls, the ceiling is just black clouds. Vex raises her hand up to the ceiling, a book comes floating down.
Vex picks Kat and Krypt up and sets them on the long large table. “What the hell is this?” Krypt asks standing up and gesturing towards Vex.
“Had to bring you somewhere safe. I am trying to find Jay. Now sit down and let me work.” Vex turns and leans against the table. Her armor slowly disappears to reveal her royal crown.
Her crown rest upon her head. Krypt is tapping the table obnoxiously. “I wouldn’t.” Kat warns Krypt. Krypt keeps going. Vex’s wings start to tense, then she’s turned around slamming her fist down. She picks up Krypt. Vex picks up Kat and sets her on her shoulder then walks to the next room.
She dumps Krypt into a cage. “Now that you pissed me off, you can stay here until I say so. Now if you’re a good little pet you would behave.” Vex makes a fist then slowly releases. “Because I am not as cold-hearted as you think.” Krypt leans to pick up the supplies of weed Vex just offered.
Vex puts Kat on the floor. Vex says an unknown word, the human mind can’t even comprehend what she just said. Vane appears. “Yes?” He purrs.
“Vane, Kat. Kat, Vane. Krypt, Vane. Vane, Krypt.” Vex introduces.
“Sup bro.” Krypt greets.“Watch them for me. I have something to do.” Vex rest her hand on his shoulder. They are the same height. Same skin tone, same eye color and hair color. “Be sure to give them a nice evening. I will be back soon. For you all it will be meer hours. But for me it will be a day or so. See you guys later.” Vex disappears.
She reappears. The Bounty Hunter bar and inn. Oh this place has memories. “Oh like the time you and you know who did the down and dirty before you became the Dark Queen.” She speaks in the back of her head again.
“Yes. That time. Now shut up.” Vex walks in and goes to the bar. When she steps in the door her shade rises and she looks like a normal client. Vex takes a seat.
“Well well, why are you here after such a long time of being away?” Sebastian asks cleaning a glass with a damp towel. Vex looks up at him and give a slight glimpse of the black eyes under her old mortal blue ones. Vex can sense the shivers run down his spine. “What do you need?”
“A bounty of course. His name is Jay. I need him back to me alive. I believe a thousand coins can do.” Sebastian goes and grabs a piece of paper with a feather pen. Vex writes down the information needed and signs it at the bottom. The Dark Queen.
“Why need a bounty when you are, you know?” Vex waves him to retrieve her a drink. Sebastian brings Vex back the most expensive kind. She takes a drink.
“I can’t track him. Something is blocking my connection to him. Now get this damn bounty on every tree, on every building. If he is not found soon, you will be the one paying me back, in blood. Nice to see you again old friend.” Vex takes a drink. She stands up and beings walking away. “See you next time.” She disappears, without a trace.
She appears in the Hall of Memories. One that she created. Now that She is an immortal creature, She made a Hall to store her memories. So many doors. From the day she was born, to the day she saw her old friends again. It is not in the same dimension that Faery is in. Being in this hall for a week, can last just and hour in Faery, a day in the Mortal world.
Vex steps into a memory. She stands as a ghost, next to Vex, the mortal Vex. The mortal Vex is looking him in the eyes and is quiet, still. For she does not know if this is a dream. He stands there, staring at her. This will be the last time they meet before Vex becomes the Dark Queen.
“How are you here?” Her voice whimpers as tear begin to form in her eyes.
“I can’t leave you. Not yet.” They are in each other's arms before you can blink. She pulls him down for a kiss. But then the world starts to crack and shake. They are split apart. This is where Vex’s journey to becoming the Dark Queen begins.
She snaps out of it. Scorn. Vex shakes her head and walks to another memory. The birth of her daughter. How happy she was. Holding the newborn girl in her hands. Oh sweet child. She stands in the corner of the room staring at herself giving birth to her daughter, Scorn holding her hand, encouraging her to keep going.
Her daughter is half fae and half beast. Tears begin to form in her eyes, when one falls, black spread across the ground and fades away. She steps out and falls to her knees. Her black glitter dress is what she now wears, her hair curled. She feels something change about her, a mirror appears in her hand and another black streak comes. She feels no grief.
But she shifts to her daughter. It’s dark out, she keeps her shade down. And walks through the door. Her daughter lays in her bed, curled up with a toy her mother gave her when she was only a small girl. “Ava.” Vex shakes her. “Ava.” She shakes Ava again. Ava rubs her face and sees her mother.
“Mother?” She asks rubbing her eyes. When Ava turns over, Vex’s eyes go wide at the pure white streak of hair. Vex hand brushes it and Vex hand feels a great burn.
Vex shakes her head but does not want to scare her dear child. “Ava.” Ava suddenly wraps her arms around her mother.
“I’m sorry for never trusting you. I’m sorry for not being there when you needed me the most.” Vex senses Scorn in the doorway.
“No.” She pushes Ava’s head up to look her in the eyes. “I am sorry for not being the mother you needed all your life. I promise you my child that I will do better.” Vex wraps her arms around her fragile daughter. But Vex feels power inside her daughter. She might be half-fae, half-beast so you think she would have some power but she didn’t when she was born. But now she does. “Now go back to sleep. You will need your strength tomorrow.” Vex kisses her on the head and tucks her daughter in. Vex stands up and walks out of the room. Practically dragging Scorn behind her. They reach the great patio.
Vex’s people live in a castle just outside a great village but they are not a kingdom. Vex shakes her head at the thought that she just called them her people. It’s Scorns people. Not hers anymore. She remembers when this place was built. At the center of this castle in the Great Hall is a symbol, they all poured their blood into that symbol. For this castle is ours, and only the people with our blood may live here.
Vex leans over the barrier, her Shade drops and she feels the power inside her. “The Light has chosen.” She mumbles.
“What?” Scorn asks.
“The Light! It chose her!” Lighting strikes.
“It chose who?” Scorn asks turning Vex around.
“Ava! It chose our daughter! What will I do? She can’t be the Queen of Light! She can’t be. What happens when she gains the true power of Light? Our people hate each other. She will turn pure good as I turn pure evil. We will be forced to hate each other. We will be forced to go to war with each other!” Rain started to pour, lighting began to strike frequently, wind starts to blow the leaves up the great castle.
“Vex.” Scorn tries to get her to calm down. “Vex!” He can see the look in her black eyes. A streak of black begins to take over the blond hair. “God damn it. Vex!” He grabs her by the shoulders and pulls her into is arms. The storm disappears, the black streak disappears. “Everything will be fine.” Vex Shifts away. Disappointed in herself.
“Get yourself back together. Do it for your daughter. I mean… our daughter.” Her voice purrs inside Vex’s head.
“I know. Just give me a minute.” Vex says to herself. Vane appears behind her. “What?” Vex aggressively asks.
“We found him.” Vex turns around.
“Show me.” Vex grabs onto Vane and they shift.
