Lagos, Nigeria.
2012."Stay"
Halting in his tracks, Zahar stood rooted to where he was.
A rush of emotions flooded him as he turned back, the sight of Rumaysa on the floor flipped a switch in him.
Lowering himself onto the floor a few feet beside her, he audibly exhaled into the air.
The chilly air slapped him in the face, but he paid no attention to it.
Sitting beside the girl who owned his heart, enveloped by a silence that spoke tonnes, his aching heart found solace.
It didn't matter that she wasn't looking at him, it didn't even matter that she wasn't speaking to him.
....Only that she was there with him.
He inclined his body slightly at an angle where he could easily gaze at her.
The fullness of his heart at her sight made something hold within him. The concept of time lost its meaning as he got lost in her.
"What is it Zahar" the sound of his name from her lips broke him inside. It had been years since he had heard her say his name.
It made him churn with envy at the thought of her saying other men's names.
"Maysa" Rumaysa on her part, fought the desire to turn towards the man beside her.
The thought of cuddling into his chest, being wrapped in his arms, being loved by him, and being wanted filled her brain.
Closing her eyes, she tried blocking out the images but instead, her actions made the the picture all the more vivid.
Tears leaked down her eyes at every image that clouded her mind.
"Maysa" hearing her name from Zahar as he gripped her shoulder was her undoing.
Throwing herself towards him, she hugged his neck, sobbing into his shoulders.
Shocked, Zahar picked the girl in his arms up, angry at whoever caused her despondency.
But he couldn't let his Maysa see his anger, picking her up, he cradled her against his chest.
A hum of satisfaction leaving her as her form fitted snugly against his.
Rocking her against him, he waited for her sobs to quieten.
Even after her sobs had subsided, Rumaysa couldn't muster the strength to pull herself away from Zahar.
With a hand placed gently under her chin, Zahar raised Rumaysa's face from his chest causing his eyes to meet hers.
Staring into Rumaysa's eyes, Zahar chuckled as she averted her gaze.
"Only you Maysa" he chuckled, earning him an angry glare from Rumaysa.
Snuggling up into his neck, Rumaysa mewled making the hairs on Zahar's body rise.
Zahar pushed the feeling of guilt that was overwhelming him, and wrapped his hands tightly around Rumaysa's form, relishing her presence.
'No'
Picking Rumaysa up, he sat her gently on the floor, assuming his previous position a few feet from her.
"Maysa, I won't be able to stop my self from doing something you wouldn't like" Zahar said, breathless.
Madness ripped through his veins lighting up every nerve in his body.
"Maysa" he growled, at the sight of his girl advancing towards him, shutting his eyes to block the sight.
