Smoke.

Immediately Rayyan left the officers quarters, he couldn't see anything. The air was almost unbreathable, and everyone was scattered about.

The best chance they had was to gather everyone at a specific location so they could put the plans they'd laid down into action.

But that too, had so many flaws in it.

For one, there was every likelihood that there were spies amongst them that would rat out their plans to the militants.

However, the major hindrance was their inability to communicate.

Without being able to convey their plans to everyone seeing how everyone was scattered, Rayyan knew the battle was a lost one.

"Rayyan!" Turning towards the sound of his name, Rayyan noticed the Commander and a fairly large group of personnel coming his way.

"Sir, I heard the gunshot from the direction of the cadets' quarters" He reported immediately, wondering why the Commander had a calm expression on his face at such a critical time.

Amongst the people that were with him, Rayyan spotted Patrick, also sporting a smirk on his face.

Did they have a plan?.

"Officer, you think I was going to let those bastards get hold of our cadets?" The Commander asked rhetorically, eyes blazing with killing intent.

Rayyan stood watching the man confused, his brain working to analyse the situation they were so content on keeping him in the dark about.

Logically, he could deduce from the Commander's words that there was some sort of protection for the cadets.

He certainly wouldn't deploy officers to the Cadets' quarters to war with the militants, it was much too obvious.

On the other hand, the militants probably would have probably sent only a small portion of their forces to the Cadets' quarters seeing as their main function was to raid the arsenal.

The arsenal!.

Rayyan's head turned sharply towards the commander who had a knowing smile plastered on his face.

"Sir, are the cadets in the arsenal?" He asked hurriedly.

The Commander shared a look with the officer next to him, one Rayyan didn't recognise.

The unfamiliar man looked at the Commander and smiled.

"You were right, his deduction skills are pretty good" He said to the Commander, then turned to Rayyan.

"I'm Captain O.O Jackson, the head of the Intelligence and Strategic Department in the Defence Intelligence Academy.

I've heard a lot about you, top of your set every year in the NDA, top-notch deduction skills, excellent marksmanship. Your Commander's been hiding a gem in this academy.

"... Well, now's not the time but give me a call if we come out of this alive" The man said.

Rayyan looked at the man shocked, his name alone sent the chills up the spine.
