Chapter 16

My alarm went off and woke me up. It was 5am in the morning. I didn't want to get up but I had to. I got up and took a shower and got dressed. I brushed my teeth and put my shoes on. I headed to the car and let it warm up. As I sat in the car I saw Jalisha getting in her car. She has on a hospital uniform so I figured she's headed work. I blew the horn to get her attention. She waved at me and I smiled. She's a beautiful woman. I don't see why her husband treating her so bad for saving her family. I backed out the driveway and headed to work. Once I got there I walked in and went to the conference room. I put my things down and waited for my boss to come in. She came in and introduced herself.

"Hey my name is Mandy Shaw and you are Matthew Walker correct?"

"Yes that is me."

"Great so I'm glad you was able to accept the job."

"Thank you for offering me the job. I really love what I do and put my all into my work."

"That's good to know. I love a hard working man."

I smiled and said "thank you so much."

"Now I do want to tell you that I run my conferences a little different but they will be amazing for the company. Long as you get the work done I'm ok with it."

"Thank you Mandy."

"Ok well your conference is not due until later so feel free to tour the hospital and get to know people."

"Ok thanks."

I walked around and met some of the nurses on the floor. The doctors was nice and then guess who I run into.

"Well good morning Jalisha."

"Good morning to you how are you neighbor?"

"Well I'm much better since I saw you."

She blushed when I said that.

"So did you talk back to your husband?"

"No actually I didn't. He still talking about a divorce."

"Man I'm sorry to hear that. I feel no matter what happens you should talk about it before divorce. I mean some cases you need a divorce but in other cases nah I don't. Well do you consider my case a divorce?"

"Me personally no but hey I'm not him you feel me."

"Yeah I get that."

"Well look what are you doing tonight?"

"Nothing why?"

"Well I wanted to invite you over for dinner."

"Me dinner?"

"Sure you dinner."

"Are you cooking?"

"Of coarse I can burn."

We laughed.

"Ok sure what time?"

"Let's say 7:30."

"Ok well see you at 7:30."

"Awesome and Jalisha?"

"Yes?"

"Have a beautiful day."

"Thanks you too."

I walked off and went back to my office. I don't know what it is about her but I like her. I'll show her a good time tonight. And maybe we can pick up where we left off at.

Coming to work was the only thing to get my mind off Melissa. This is so challenging to me. My therapists said it will just take time. I know it is but it doesn't change the fact that she is gone. My kids are a mess. I'm a mess and Jalisha walking around like ain't nothing happened. I put my head on my desk and just cried. That's all I find myself doing here lately. There was a knock on my office door.

"Come in."

I wiped my face and here comes Jalisha.

"What do you want now?"

"I came to give you these orders for a patient."

"Just put them on my desk and leave please."

"Why are you treating me like this? All I did was save us from being killed."

"Yes you did to the expense of Melissa's life. So if you don't mind I would love it if you leave my office NOW!!!! And if you need to give me anything send it through someone else or leave it at the nurse station with a sticky note."

"Wow Alonzo you really doing this?"

"Yes I am. I can't deal with someone who deliberately gives people information to kill someone."

"I didn't kill her. I saved us."

"You didn't save me cause I had me. I had us. You took that upon yourself to do. Melissa was fine. He wouldn't have known how to get to her if it wasn't for you. So if you will excuse me I got work to do. Leave my office now. And don't come back to my office ever again. And I mean this with everything in me. I'll bring Amira by this afternoon to see you and that is all."

"Alonzo please don't do this. I'm your wife and I deserve more than this."

"No you don't. And being my wife is about to be over. Oh yeah I filed for divorce."

Jalisha*
"You filed for divorce?"

"Yes I did. I don't trust you. I can't stand you. And I don't want you. Now get the FUCK OUT!!"

My heart dropped to my toes. The way he yelled at me. Tears fell down my face. I started breathing hysterically. It felt like I was hyperventilating. I got light headed and dizzy all at the same time. I walked slow to the door trying not to fall. Crying and trying to keep my balance I grabbed the door and next thing I know I'm on the floor. Alonzo jumped from his desk and called my name. I heard his voice but he sounded farther and farther away. Then I blacked out.

Damn I may have been too hard on her.
"Jalisha wake up."

I did CPR on her and tried to revive her. She was out like a light I called Jackson down and he rushed in and we got her to a room and they worked on her. Here I am again in the damn emergency room trying to figure out what's going on. This shit can't be happening again. It took them about 30 minutes to come out. Jackson walked to me.

"Hey man. We got her back."

"Omg what happened man?"

"I think you better sit down for this one."

My heart dropped. This can't be happening!!!

What's wrong with Jalisha?

Is Alonzo gonna be able to take it?
