Cheers erupted from the Gryffindor stands like thunder. Flint was yelling foul things about Harry and how Gryffindor cheated. The Slytherin stand was booing and yelling at Madam Hooch to call a penalty. All of a sudden Lee Jordon was announcing the result of the game.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, the winner is Gryffindor with one hundred and seventy points to sixty."
I ran over to Harry and tackled him with a hug. "You did it! You did it, Harry!" He hugged me back and soon we were surrounded by the whole team. After all of chaos ended, Harry, Ron, Hermione and I went over to Hagrid's for tea. On the way over there Harry, Ron and Hermione were blabbering about something imperceptible. It soon got annoying and I lashed out, "What are you talking about that is so important?"
"Snape tried to kill Harry," Ron said like it was no big deal.
"Oh, okay. Wait, what?" I cried.
Hermione answered, "During the game Snape jinxed Harry's broom."
"That's why it was acting weird?" I asked.
"Yes," Hermione said.
We got to Hagrid's hut and were instantly shown in. Hagrid made us tea and we sat by the fire quietly sipping it. Finally, Ron decided to talk, telling Hagrid about how Snape had cursed Harry's broomstick. Of course Hagrid did not believe this.
"Rubbish," Hagrid said, "Why would he do that?"
We all looked at each other, deciding on what to tell him. I spoke up. "He tried to get past that three-headed dog on Halloween and it bit him. We think that he is trying to steal whatever it is guarding."
Hagrid stared at all of us like we were crazy. "How do you know about Fluffy?"
"Fluffy?"
"He's mine. I lent him to Dumbledore to guard the-"
"Yes?" Harry said excitedly.
"Why did you name him Fluffy?" I asked.
"Does it matter?"
"Yes, I think it does?"
"Sophia!" Ron said.
"Do not ask me anymore. It is top secret," Hagrid said, "Snape is a teacher, he wouldn't do anything like that."
"So why did he try to kill Harry?" Hermione argued.
"Listen to me, you are wrong. I do not know why Harry's broom acted like that, but it was not Snape. Forget about what the dog is guarding, that is between Professor Dumbledore and Nicolas Flamel-"
"Who is this Nicolas Flamel?" I said innocently.
Hagrid looked like he was about to choke me.The months went by and soon it was the Christmas holidays. Many students were going home to visit their families. But not Harry. The Weasleys had offered to let both of us to stay with them, but I thought that we were only going to be in the way of their family plans. So we decided to stay back and do research on Nicholas Flamel. Speaking of which, we had found nothing on.
It was like he was a ghost. Hermione and I had searched the library for any clue that may lead us to better understand what was going on. We had opened almost every book the library. Nothing. We had even enlisted Ron and Harry to help. Still nothing. There were only a couple more days left before the break started and I would have only Harry to help me, and let's be honest, he wasn't much help. Then an idea occurred to me, what if it wasn't in the student section, what if it was in the restricted section?
I shared this idea with Hermione and she discussed it with Harry and Ron. They all agreed that it was a better lead than the one they had right now. So we made a plan.
After Hermione and Ron would leave for the Holidays, I would get Peeves to create a distraction in the corridor leading to the Great Hall . Then, Harry and I would sneak into the restricted section and search for a book that would help us until the time was up and Peeves would signal for us to run. It wasn't a good plan, and we all know Peeves isn't of the reliable sort, but it was the best one we had at the moment.
The last week of school was coming and everyone assumed that the teachers would embrace the holiday spirit and not give us a lot of work. Everyone assumed wrong. Very wrong. Apparently, the Snape thought that we would have time to complete two essay's work of homework. And on top of that, Professor McGonagall had given those of us who were going to stay at Hogwarts for the break, an assignment to see if we can transfigure a toothpick into a candy cane. Of course, it only took me about 20 minutes. Even Harry had done it in less than an hour.
Ron had decided to stay at Hogwarts for the holidays because his parents were going to visit his older brother, Charlie in Romania. I didn't remember Charlie much, since he was so much older than me. I do know that he was always nice and laid back. As Ron was staying at Hogwarts, he also had to do the project for Professor McGonagall. He was hopeless. The first Saturday off Harry and I tried to help him with it for about three and a half hours. Finally, I just got so bored that I did it for him myself. It was my Christmas present to him.
We decided to wait until the day after Christmas to carry out our plan, incase Hermione had found something and was going to send it to us. I had searched through many magazines, books, and articles with her, and we both agreed that we had heard the name Nicholas Flamel before.
But as much as we searched and searched, the guy evaded being found.
Before long, it was Christmas. I woke up pretty late that day, and I could hears Ron and Harry in the common room yelling for me to get up. Finally, I had gotten out of bed and went downstairs. I found that the common room was empty except for Harry and Ron. Everyone else had probably gone down for breakfast. They had already opened up their presents, and mine. Wrapping paper was all over the floor.
"You opened my presents?" I asked.
"Sorry, but we couldn't wait any longer," Harry replied.
"Yeah, you can get your beauty sleep any other day," Ron added.
I noticed one parcel that hadn't been open. "What's this?"
"It had both of our names on it, so we were going to wait to open it," Harry explained.
I opened the lid to the box and gasped, "Harry, you're going to want to look at this."
