Harry was mad at me the rest of the dinner. Although, why, I couldn't be sure. He was the one interfering with my business, I should be the one who's mad, right? Was it a crime to send a person a card with terrible Christmas puns? No. I know that Harry and Draco got off to a bad start, but Draco isn't as tough as he acts. You just have to get to know the guy.
After dinner, I decided to go back up to the dormitories, hiding the necklace in the folds of my pants. When Harry had seen the necklace, he had totally flipped. Like, completely. He started to scream at me and even tried to take the necklace from me, but I wouldn't let him. Squeezing it was the only thing that kept me from crying all throughout dinner, not that I ate much.
As soon as I made it into the Gryffindor common room I started to cry. Knowing that Harry and Ron could be coming in at any time I ran up to the girls' dormitories. I sat on my bed and held the necklace out in front of me. It was so beautiful and yet Harry had made such a big fuss over it. I swung it behind my neck and fastened it. I went over to the mirror and looked at my reflection. It was perfect. In the corner of the mirror there was a big box next to my bed. Then a disturbing thought came to my mind.
Harry and I were going into the restricted section tonight. Together.
I turned around and checked my alarm clock to see what time it was. 8:15, we had a little less than four hours before it was time to go.
I groaned and laid back onto my bed. Astro started to scratch at his cage door. I went over and let him out. Over the past couple of months he had grown noticeably bigger, almost to the point that I couldn't hold him without some difficulty. He jumped up onto the bed and started to give me kisses.
"I'm sorry boy," I said, "but I can't play, I'm too tired." Astro started to whine as I pulled back the blankets on my bed. I got under the covers and Astro curled up beside me.
I reached over behind me and picked up my alarm clock. After setting my alarm to 11:40 I laid back down with Astro. Within minutes we were both asleep."Bing! Bing! Bing!"
My head shot up as I reached over to turn off my alarm clock. I looked around the room before realizing I was the only one here, the others had gone home for Christmas.
I had slept in my clothes but slipped on my tennis shoes and grabbed the cloak before going downstairs to the common room.
Harry wasn't there yet so I laid down on one of the velvet couches and tried to go back to sleep. Not long after, probably 10 minutes, I felt a tap on my shoulder and someone trying to wake me up.
I slowly opened my eyes and saw Harry peering down at me. He didn't look mad, just worn out and tired, I wonder if he got much sleep.
"Ready?" He asked.
I nodded in reply and we down to the library, making sure that we were quiet. When we reached the entrance to the library I flipped the invisibility cloak over Harry and I's heads.
We made our way to the restricted section which wasn't much different than the normal library, with large bookcases and many chairs and tables for people to study on.
"Where should we start?" I asked.
It took a moment for him to reply. Maybe he was still deciding whether or not to talk to me. "Search up Nicholas Flamel, duh."
"Duh," I repeated, but he didn't even crack a smile. We walked over to the NF section and stared to pull off books from the shelf. The first book I opened had literally nothing to do with Nicholas Flamel. It was about an older lady who sold a type of magic tea. Don't ask me why that was in the restricted section, I don't know.
Harry's book, however, had a good reason to be in the restricted section. When he opened it, it let out a blood-curdling scream that was probably shaking the walls.
"Harry," I said with a groan, but also trying to stifle a laugh. You should have seen his face.
A bolt of panic went through me. The teachers would have heard this.
"Harry," I said, a little more urgent now, "we need to leave."
He nodded and together we checked that the invisibility cloak was still on and quickly exited the library. Behind us we heard footsteps. We hurried around the corner and nearly bumped into Snape. I gasped and Harry put a hand over my mouth. Snape was holding Quirrell up by the collar of his robes while also holding up his own robes to reveal a long gash down his shin. They seemed to be in a serious conversation when we arrived, but now it had stopped. Because Snape knew we were here. He reached out and swiped the air in front of us. We didn't have enough time to move if we had wanted to.
Footsteps were approaching around the corner and soon Filch had appeared. "Students out of bed. Have you seen them?"
"No, go." It was Snape who had talked. Apparently, he wanted to be alone right now. Filch whispered a sorry and soon he had gone. Harry and I needed to get out of here. We silently backed up around the corner until we were out of sight of Snape and Quirrell.
I opened the first door I could find that was unlocked an Harry and I went inside. There wasn't anything inside the room except for a huge mirror. When I was sure that the room was empty I yanked off the invisibility cloak and turned toward Harry. "We should stay here until we're sure that the coast is clear."
He nodded and said, "What is that?" He was referring to the mirror. He turned to face it and I swear, his face went as white as a sheet.
"What?" I questioned. When he didn't answer I came to stand next to him, looking at the mirror.
From looking in the mirror I could noticeably see my jaw drop.
