Waking up, Renjun stretched his arms as far as he can. He yawned and rubbed his eyes, no matter how hard his rubbed, his eyes somehow still feels heavy. The oversized Hoodie that Mark gave him was no help whatsoever, only making the gravity of his bed stronger.

He walked to his bathroom, eyes still closing. Lucky him, he remembered his bedroom even the details.

He opened the door to the bathroom, almost tripping over the air as he faced the mirror. Reaching over to his toothbrush and toothpaste, he managed to open his eyes. Still looking at the mirror, he pressed the toothpaste, his toothbrush made its way to his mouth. But before it did, he stopped when he looked down on the sink.

He noticed a thin red string wrapped around his left pinky. He squinted his eyes, with his other hand he tried to take it off, but when he tried to pull it off, the string somehow gave a burning feeling to his pinky.

"Shi-ah!" he held his pinky, he was now wide awake, fully aware of the string.

"What the hell?"

He continued to look down on the floor, walking out of the bathroom to see that the string had made a trail, he thought it was his brother's prank. But as he trailed the string, he bumped into the wall. His eyes widen, this isn't a prank, The string was through the walls.

Renjun's heartbeat quickens, this was too much for him to take in.

"MoOOM!" he yelled as he ran outside his room.

After having a talk with his mom, Renjun soon found out that this red string indicates that he has a soulmate. His mother congratulated him of course, she told him that his grandfather experienced the same soulmate method.

Luckily, Renjun and his soulmate are the only ones that could see the string.

This event terrified him, he wished that his soulmate was Nora, a girl that he's already dating for nearly 5 months. Nonetheless, he began packing his backpack and got ready for school.

Turns out, Nora wasn't his soulmate. He was really disappointed when he found no red string on her pinky.

Renjun wasn't the type that can hide his emotions, the disappointment can clearly be seen on his face. His mind was filled with questions on how to tell Nora about this.

When he was met face to face with the girl, Nora only gave him a weak smile, saying that she and Renjun should break up. Renjun tried to reason with Nora, but Nora only gave him another smile.

"We can't avoid destiny, Renjun. It's not good for you and me."

Renjun and Nora knew each other since the first year in high school. And around that year, all of their friends started to have soulmate marks or soulmate signs, while Nora and Renjun didn't have any.

Before Renjun could speak another word, Nora walked away, completely ignoring his calls of her name. Renjun froze in his place, he just lost the girl of his dreams.

Students start to get into class one by one. As usual, Renjun would sit in the back, right beside the window, slumping his back as he leaned his chin on his hand.
