Chapter 1

My converse foot tapped nervously on the floor as I waited for detective Santiago, to come and give me a tour.

"Hello!" I looked up from the ground to see a women with brown hair.

"Hi." I said.

"I'm Amy Santiago, you must be."

"Elizabeth Cozner." I said holding out my hand as she shook it violently.

"Let's get started." I nodded as we made our way around the perceint.

"This is where you'll be spending most of your time, at the end of the day of course." She said as she jumped a little bit.

"Hey? You all right? You seem on edge." I said.

"I-I'm trying to give up smoking, but it's not working." Amy said as I nodded.

"I've smoked before and quiting is the hardest thing, but I can try to help." I said as she smiled.

"Thank you, oh here's your desk. It's my old one, I've moved over there but I need to wrong you about your desk partner."

"Heyo!" I turned to see a man around my height maybe 2 inches taller.

"Uh hi." He tripped over his feet coming towards me.

"Hi, I'm Jake, Jake Peralta. And what's your name beautiful?"

"Elizabeth, Cozner." I held out my hand.

"Cozner? Where have I heard that name before?"

"Elizabeth." I turned to see uncle Holt as I smiled.

"Uncle Holt." I said going over to hug him.

"No way! How did you not catch that? Name of your sex tape! Whoa!" He cheered as I laughed.

"How has your tour been?" uncle Holt asked.

"It was great, Detective Santiago is really good help." I said with a smile.

"What about Mr. Peralta."

"Too much of a flirt for his own good." I smirked as Amy laughed.

"Not everyday I get to see a beautiful girl." Jake winked as I chuckled.

"Let's go talk in my office. Don't you have work to get to? Mr Peralta?" Uncle Holt asked.

"Yes, Captian. Nice meeting Elizabeth." Jake winked at me before heading off.

"Talk to you later Amy... Maybe we could go out for drinks tonight?" I asked.

"Yes! Yes! Of course. See you later." I nodded following Uncle Holt into his office.

I chewed on my pencil as I stared at my computer screen as a clicking sound kept on annoying me.

I looked up to see Jake staring at me while clicking on his mouse doing nothing.

"Will you stop that! I am trying to work here." I told him.

"Sorry babe." Jake said as I rolled my eyes.

"First, don't call me babe. Second, if you click that mouse one more time I will rip your throat off." I said sweetly.

"So, you're Holt's neice. How did that happen?"

"Well, when my uncle Kevin and him got married. I became his niece, it's not rocket science, it's common sense." I smirked.

"I knew that! Wanna go get drinks tonight?" Jake asked.

"I can't, I have a date tonight."

"What?! With who?" Jake asked.

"Ready to go Elizabeth?" Amy asked.

"Yes, oh and I have a date with Amy." I smirked.

Amy and I linked arms before leaving the station with Jake yelling behind us.

Amy and I sat in Shaw's bar talking about our day.

"So, how'd you like your first day?" She asked siping on her drink.

"It was great... Except Peralta." I said.

"Yeah, he's a huge flirt... Do you date?"

"He asked you that didn't he?" I asked.

"Yeah... So do you?" She asked as I shook my head.

"Uh no... Not really. Every relationship I've been in ended badly, they never really tried or they asked someone else to ask me out like Jake." I said as she nodded.

"But if he really tried to get together, and took effort in asking. I might say yes." I said.

"I'm not going to tell him that, cause if I did he'd hire something big. I'm gonna make him work for it." Amy said as I laughed.

"All right." I checked my watch.

"Oh shoot! I have to release the sitter." I said getting up.

"Sitter?"

"Yeah, I have a son... See you tomorrow Ames." I waved before heading out of the bar.
