Chapter 2

Sam's small hand gripped mine as we headed off of the elevator, I opened the small gate as he followed.

"Hey Elizabeth." Terry said coming over.

"Hey Terry."

"Who's this?" He asked leaning down in front of Sam.

"This is my son Sam... Say hi babes." I said.

"Hello." She waved.

"Elizabeth you're late." Holt said as Terry stood up.

Holt was about to say something as he saw Sam.

"Sorry, Uncle Holt. The sitter canceled on me and I have no one to watch Sam." I said as Sam gripped my hand.

"Aw! Cute kid... How old is he?" Charles asked.

"This here is Sam and he's 4 almost 5." I said as everyone came in.

"Sam can stay as long as he behaves." Holt said as I nodded.

"Oh don't worry, he's more mature then Peralta." I said.

"Hey! I am mature." Jake said before looking down at Sam's hand.

"IS THAT A TRANSFORMER?!" Jake asked excitedly.

"It's bumble bee." Sam announced holding up his toy.

"That is so cool! Do you wanna play race cars? You know as long as it's cool with your mom?" Jake asked looking up at me.

"Is it mommy?!" Sam asked bouncing up and down.

"Of course it is babes... As long as you're on your best behavior." I said.

"I will mommy." He hugged me tight before grabbing Jake's hand running off.

Rosa and I sat in an unmarked car as we waited for a perp we were looking for to come out.

"So Sam's your kid?" She asked as I nodded.

"Yup, had him when I was 25 but that was 4 years ago." I said as she nodded.

"Where's his dad?"

"Oh, uh. After he found out I was pregnant, he left me. He was an asshole anyways." I told her.

"Must be tough, raising him all by yourself." Rosa said.

"Yeah... My parents helped me get started but I hated taking money from them and living under their roof. So I took some jobs and saved up for an apartment, they still help me a little bit but now that I have a stable job, it won't be for much longer." I explained.

After that we stopped talking until we saw our guy.

We both got out of the car going over to him.

"Robert Stone?" I asked.

He turned than he saw who we were then started running.

"You take the back, I'll take the front." I nodded as we went our different ways.

I quietly made my way around the building only to be stabbed in the leg.

I screamed out in pain as I put my foot out to trip him as Rosa came cuffing him.

"You okay Elizabeth?" Rosa asked.

"Of course, just got stabbed in the leg." I said.

"Officer down." Rosa said picking the perp up.

Rosa helped me limp into precinct as Sam ran to me.

"Mommy! Mommy." He hugged my legs as I groaned.

"Hi babes." I said as Amy ran to hug me.

"Elizabeth, you're okay." She said.

"Yeah, just got stabbed." I said.

"Here have a seat." Jake said as he brought over his chair for me as I sat down.

"Thanks... Guys don't worry I am fine, it's part of the job, come here babes." I said as I pulled Sam onto my lap.

"Elizabeth." I turned in my seat to see Uncle Holt standing in the door way of his office.

"Take the rest of the day off." He said.

"What?! No, it's only my second day!" I said.

"I'll drive them!" Jake yelled as I rolled my eyes.

"No, no, no. I am fine." I said.

"That's an order Miss Conzer." Uncle Holt said as I sighed.

"Fine." I said as Sam removed himself from my lap.

"Come on babes." I said as Jake helped me up.

Jake helped me into my apartment as Sam ran into his room.

"Thanks." I said as I laid back onto the couch.

"So. Where do I sleep?" Jake asked as I gave him a look.

"At your own place, look thanks for the ride but Sam and I will be fine." I told Jake.

"No can do beautiful. Captain Holt assigned me to you until that stab wound is all healed up." Jake said as I gave him a look.

"You mean, you begged and begged and begged until he gave it to you." I said.

"Yeah."

"Look Jake, you're hot and incredibly sexy but I am not looking for a relationship right now." I told him as he fell beside me.

"Well, I can wait. So what's on tv?" Jake kicked his feet up grabbing the tv remote as I laughed.
