“Um, I - H-he’s-” Yoongi stuttered, interlocking his hands as his palms became clammy, his heartbeat increasing at an unhealthy rate and his mind screaming at him to dismiss the conversation before he had a mental breakdown.

Thankfully, Jihyo was there to save Yoongi from full out sobbing in front of his children.

“He’s a friend of appie’s, an old friend,” Jihyo quickly replied to Misun, who stared at the picture with wide eyes, her brother looking over her shoulder.

Yoongi took a deep breath, he needed to talk about Hoseok, he needed to tell his kids about the love of his life and their father. Maybe, for now, he’d leave out that part, since they are very young, but he must tell them of how good of a guy he was.

He needed to be strong, for himself, and for Hoseok, the topic of his dead sync wouldn’t be left untouched forever.

The maroon haired male smiled, taking the picture from Misun’s adorably small hands and holding it in his own. His fingers went over his lover’s face delicately, a small smile appearing on his face.

“Appie’s very good friend, his name was Hoseok, Jung Hoseok,” he began, looking at Misun and Woozi’s face, the two were paying a whole lot of attention.

Jihyo stared at Yoongi with a fond smile, glad her friend was finally speaking about Hoseok without sobbing.

Woozi pointed at Hoseok’s smile, “it wooks li a hart,” he exclaimed, he and Misun making a heart with their hands and comparing it.

The elder smiled, “Yes, and his personality was like the sun itself … he was the sun itself.”

Oh no, here came the tears.

Jihyo quickly snatched the picture from Yoongi’s hands, the male wiping away the few tears that slipped from his eyes before his kids could notice.

“Sunshine man!” Misun suddenly yelled, her smile so big it almost shined like a star, he shined like Hoseok’s smile.

“What?” Jihyo and Yoongi questioned in unison, Misun turning to her father.

“He’s li a sunshine man, you said he li the sun itself!” Misun exclaimed with a huge smile, Woozi smiling along with her.

The twins began jumping around, chanting sunshine man as they jumped around, the maroon haired male chuckling a bit, Jihyo turning to him and whispering.

“You okay?”

The male-only nodded, he suddenly had an epiphany. Misun looked exactly like Hoseok, her personality was like his, hell, her smile was just like his. He had a nickname for Jihoon, yet not one for Misun.

Until it dawned on him.

Sunnie. Misun + the sun = Sunnie.

The literal perfect nickname for someone who resembled his sunshine as if she was a female clone.

“Sunnie!” he shouted, a huge gummy smile taking over his features.

A smile he hasn’t smiled since Hoseok died, fuck, since Hoseok was kidnapped.

Yoongi shot up from his seat, lifting Misun up and peppering her face with a multitude of kisses. Ever since she was born, Yoongi knows he hasn’t treated her like he does Jihoon, though that was because she resembled Hoseok so much, it hurt him.

Though now, he was ready, he was finally coming to terms with the truth, coming to terms that Hoseok was gone but that was okay.

Because no matter what, Hoseok would always be with him in his heart and in the form of Misun.

“Your nickname is Sunnie, my love,” he told the three-year-old in his arms, Misun smiling brightly.

“Sunnie,” she repeated, wrapping her arms around her appie’s neck, “I li it!”

Jihyo walked over to the two, Woozi in her arms.

“She weally hapi Appie, I can fweel it!” Woozi smiled, his smile resembling Yoongi’s.

“I bet you can,” Yoongi expressed, ruffling his son’s hair while holding his daughter in his arms.

He was finally coming to terms with the truth.

Yoongi stepped into the tranquil graveyard, walking over to a spot he knew all too well. He settled down the flowers he had gotten, taking a seat in front of the tombstone.

Jung Hoseok
1994 - 2017

“Hi sunshine,” he greeted, letting the tears he had been keeping inside free, a smile gracing his features as he stared up into the night sky. “You know, I always wondered if you were one of the stars I see every night, watching over me and the kids.”

The maroon haired male closed his eyes and sighed, his gaze moving back to the tombstone in front of him.

“I came here today to tell you I am finally coming to terms with the truth, I even gave Misun her nickname today. Sunnie. I saw it as a perfect fit, I bet you would have thought of it a while ago, I mean, I would have too if you weren’t, y’know.”

Yoongi let his finger’s go over Hoseok’s name, a fond smile showing on his face. His thoughts wondering as he just let his fingers linger.

“I’ll always miss you, forever and ever, but I know you would have wanted me to live and take care of our kids, I know you wouldn’t have wanted me to stop doing what I love just because your gone. I’m going to try and stop smoking, and I’m going to try and finally pack some of your things away. My love for you, will never in a million years die, I love you so much Hoseok. I promise, when my time comes, we’ll be reunited.”

A tear slipped from Yoongi’s eye as he finished his statement, his heart aching a bit but not in a bad way, it was his body’s way of telling him he could finally carry on, it was his body’s way of telling him it was okay.

“I love you, so much,” he finished, kissing his fingers then placing it on Hoseok’s name, after he did, he got up.

“See you in our afterlife sunshine.”
