Since you were sent back to the ship,
you ran without halt until you arrived, out of breath and exhausted. You climbed up to the railing of the boat, jumping over said railing, dodging your crew mates and their questions as you basically sprinted Into your chambers to wipe your glossy, tear-filled, bloodshot eyes and assess your tear stained, flushed red cheeks.

You could only think of the horrible argument that must've broke out between your father and captain. The fear of what was to come next pulled you deeper into your mind than you wished to visit, the fear fed on your memories, pulling more and more of your childhood into the light. Some memories were nice, sweet memories of you and your mother, others made you remember why you blocked things out, like when your father left or when your mother had tried to stop your father from leaving, again. The most recent one, which happened to hurt the most, the passing of your mother.

The way she looked in the casket, so peaceful, at least  she was finally happy again. The way every one hugged you and cried on your shoulder, some were  friends of your mom's, others were extended family, who you were unfamiliar with but they knew you from an infant and the one thing they all shared was the phrase, "oh my... how you've grown"

The worst thing about the funeral, wasn't that it was your first one, it wasn't how the death would effect you life. No, it was the fact that your father and the dead woman in the casket's 'husband' had yet to show up. You knew where he was, when your aunt, your mother's sister had walked you home, you took the letters your father had wrote, packed up and left, the next day.

The events following that snapped through your head in scenes and flashes, you shot up as you cane down from the horror filled la la land you had became intertwined in.

Your eyes were once more covered with a watery gloss, you wiped them away before you stared completely crying again.

You had been so lost in your pensive state that you had been there for about ten minutes, now. Being so unaware of the long length of time you had been out, it should be no surprise that you hadn't payed any notice to the other figure in the room. He waltz in, unknown, unseen and unheard by you, standing in the shadows, the speech he had prepared, in repeat in his head as he waited for you to return to earth.

He saw the dull, lifelessness in your eyes fade, they reclaimed their usual (e/c) shine. He went to approach you, only being stopped by the strung if clear liquid dripping from your eyes and onto your cheek. You stopped and wiped your eyes and face, it killed him to see you in this shape, after the confusing conversation he had just been forced into, he wanted to sit down and talk to you about the leap of faith he was about to take.

Yet, unfortunately everything as of now had to be complicated!

Nothing so far has been easy for him, saving you and keeping you safe, and out of the hands if the dragons, realizing how different his old friend was as a father. Even now, he was just sitting there as you fell apart, crying out before him. He loved you and yet at times like this he could do nothing for you but admire you, the emotion behind everything you did and said, the way you chose to show your emotions. To him you could do no wrong, you hid your pain and sadness inside if your self... you blocked it out never to be shared.

Yet, he understood, with everything you had been through, he didn't blame you. He only wanted to help. With that realization, his legs started to move on their own, in mere seconds he had sprinted from the shadows of the corner to your side. His single arm around your head as he cradled it into the side if his neck and shoulder. "Sh-Shanks...?" You looked up shocked, he didn't say anything not move at all... He just sat there, comforting you.

Then again, it felt good to get it all out and know that someone had your back, "I'm sorry..." he spoke softly you felt breath hitch and become irregular, then something wet dripped into the side of your face, that was turned upward, "... you have no reason to... You've done nothing wrong, Shanks."

He pushed you away, you brought your head up licking eyes with him. His eyes were glossy yet firey and passionate as always, you took your hand and wiped away a stray tear from his cheek and wipe the trail the one that dripped on you had left. You then raised up and placed a kiss on his cheek, before coming back, you looked at him, again.

You could see the compassion in his eyes, they say eyes are the windows to the soul, if that's true shanks has the purest soul there is. "... but I am..." he said, averting his eyes, "For not always being there, to listen, for not telling you how I really felt..."

His heart sped up as he took your hand, he got down and onto one knee. Your eyes went wide, he's not really doing this is he? He placed a soft kiss on your hand and took a deep breath, "Silvers (Y/n)..." holy shit... that sounded weird coming from him. "I've loved you since I first spoke with you, your the sweetest, most compassionate person I have ever had the pleasure of meeting along with that your a beautiful and strong young woman and I would hate for you to ever be alone or in a bad position ever again... The truth is... I was wondering if you would l-like to..." he became red faced and a little embarrassed, "I was wondering if you would... Marry me...?" He sounded unsure at the end, like it would all blow up in his face or something. You were lost, in complete and utter shock, unable to completely process the entire thing. It came in bits and pieces until it finally clicked, and when it did, your eyes lit up like christmas lights. Your cheeks had gained a red glow about them and you smiled, it was a wholeful smile, the smile that could cure cancer, yet kill a man from the sharpness of the edges. Shanks was confused how your cheeks could go that high.

You hugged shanks, squeezing him as hard as you possibly could, tears left your eyes once more, but it was different this time. They were now tears of joy and happiness, shanks laughed and patted your head as you squeezed the bear life out of him. "Is that a yes? I still haven't gotten an answer you know."

You pulled away and nodded, wiping your eyes, "of course!"

Shanks pulled you close, his lips softly smashing into yours as you grabbed onto his shoulder and the back of his head. He smiled into the kiss as he wrapped his arm around your waist and pulled away for air, "of course." You repeated softly.

That night you fell asleep in shanks' arm, you were tucked into him as tightly as you could be to a man with only one arm. When the morning had come and the crew had stirred awake, you and shanks woke up to a peculiar event. When the two of  you had exited your barrack, you saw a man with long, white hair talking to the crew members. Benn spotting you two, made an exit away from the older male and walked closer to you.

"(Y/n), are you okay? you were in your room for awhile and Shanks... When did you get back?" He asked, questions rolling off his tongue like turpentine.

Rayleigh had noticed him slip away, but only gained interest when you and shanks' names had been spoken. He listened from the distance as more people left his crowd to surround the two if you. Asking you questions and assessing your current state.

Your ear to ear smile, led the crew to believe you and shanks' words, that every thing was okay. They backed off, you looked out once more, to see your father had left, "Hey... where'd the old guy go?" One of the crew mates yelled, causing everyone to look around.

"He always was good at that..." You said, your smile never faded, nothing could bring your spirits down right now!
