Today is a new day, our hearts are heavy with the loss of Frank and the betrayal of Diamond. I see a glint of determination in E.J.'s eyes today. She is on the war path and I am right behind her.
"E.J., my dear girl, you cannot blame yourself. Frank was ready to go. The pain you feel will ease in time." Levi soothes. She glares, hard.
"I should have done something. I was given the gift of divine healing and it did no good." she growls out. Levi shakes his head.
"Healing doesn't bring the dead back to life, my dear. It is to help those who's time hasn't come. God has a plan for Frank and he needs him more than you do."
She huffs, "Sometimes his plans suck."
Uriel nods, "I agree, but we cannot change them, Sweet one. I took him home last night and he was happy. He told me to tell you not to cry for him. He will miss you, but he is always watching you and your brother. He said he loves you both very much and is very proud of the two of you. Also, Brian, he left you everything. The paperwork in in the safe." Brian nods and wipes a tear from his cheek. E.J. pulls him into a hug.
He whispers in her ear, "I am sorry that he didn't leave it to you." E.J. Shakes her head, "You deserve it, I have more than I need and I don't know the first thing about the bar business. You will do well and I am here to help you, Little brother." He laughs sadly and nods.
"OK, we need to get a good lead on where this piece of shit is hiding. We need to shut this thing down and put an end to Dennis once and for all. He whispered in my mind last night, I don't like that, he is taunting me. It pisses me off. So, what do we know?" E.J. says, pacing the floor of the living room.
"Well, I think I may know where the bases are in several states. He is nation wide, so we are going to have to start with the smaller cells and move up from there. Without a good foundation, it will cripple the main holding. I say we cut off his supply. He is taking kids out of the state system, just like he did to you. That and he is buying them directly from parents that are poor or don't want them for whatever the reason. I think we start with the children's homes first. He has small holding cells all over. Like that home for troubled girls. I will do some digging and see what I can find." Grant say firmly.
E.J. nods, "Good plan, with our resources, we should be able to find the dirty ones pretty quickly. Lets start here in Indiana and work our way outward." Now we get to work.
All of us are pouring over the internet, searching for missing children's reports, talking with cops we know about the cases they think stand out, talking to people on the streets who may know something. By the end of the day we have one solid lead, a place called The butterfly house. It is supposed to be a teen rehab center of sorts. Kids who have anger issues, drug addiction, or major issues, go there to be rehabilitated. We know what that means, sold to Dennis and his team of demons. It is in a shitty part of the city and if we weren't warriors this place would make your skin crawl. We pull up in front of a dark and worn down brick building,it's just E.J., Grant, and me. Kyle, Gabe, Uriel, and Raphael are hiding out back, surprise attacks are always fun. We are going in the front door, E.J. refuses to hide, she want answers and she is going to get them.
Grant knocks on the door and a few seconds later, a kind looking older man with gray hair and a pot belly, opens the door.
"May I help you, young man?"
Grant nods, "We are here to check your records. My associates and I are from children's services." The man smiles and waves us in.
"My name is Peter and I am sure that you find everything is in order." he tells us as we follow him to the office. E.J.'s eyes are scanning everything. She shutters a little and her breathing hitches.
Her voice pops in my head, "I smell blood, tears, and sex." It's my turn to shudder.
She speaks up, "How old are the children in your care?" Peter grins again and this time I can see the lust there, ew, just, ew.
"Between twelve and seventeen. It's best to restructure their behavior as soon as possible."
E.J.'s voice comes through my head again, "That is word for word what they told us in the place I was." I nod, it looks like I am agreeing with Peter, but I am not, I am agreeing with E.J.
Grant is pouring over the records and E.J. is helping. I am standing guard for them and finally, she has had enough. She slams a folder down on the desk, causing Peter to jump.
"You are going to tell me exactly who you work for and I mean now. These children are being abused and degraded and it ends now. You are also going to tell me all the locations of the other places like this that you know about." Peter starts to deny it but E.J. picks him up by the throat, "Tell me." She growls and he points to a locked filing cabinet. I take the key and open it to find all the info on the whole operation here in Indiana and the contact people for the heads of the other states. This is what we need to shut Dennis down.
The others come in and help sort through the info and Gabe calls in a team to help the children. Apparently they have a special holding cell for the leaders. E.J. wanted to kill him, but since he was a human, they wouldn't let her. She pouted but agreed, she is too cute. That thought earns a growl for me, but I can't help it. After the info we gained from here, it was easy to assign teams of guardians and angels, the teams from Gabe, to close them down and rescue the children. Gabe called teams from all over to take out each place, nation wide. We visited the main operations of each state and from there, we were able to get the info for all of them. It took us a month of flying around the country before we closed every last one of them down. Now all we needed was to find Dennis and his main headquarters. He was smart, no one knew anything.
"Someone has to know something." E.J. groaned as she flopped down on the couch. We had just returned to Indiana from Alaska. "I feel him everywhere. He is dimming now that we have shut down his supply chain. He is pissed too, I can feel his anger. I just can't pinpoint him. Levi, what do you think?" Levi rubs his chin and thinks for a moment before he answers.
"My thoughts are he is close, and he is here in this state. Home front advantage, you know." E.J. nods.
"Let's get some rest, we will start fresh in the morning." We all agree and stumble to our rooms.
When we reach our room and shut the door, I grab her by her hips and pull her to me, "Let me distract you, Love." I growl and kiss her deeply. She moans and wraps her arms around my neck and jumps up wrapping her leg around my waist. She starts to grind her hips against mine and I love it. For the next hour, we make love, hard, fast, slow and sweet. I will never get enough of her.
