Gabe's POV

I stepped outside for some air and heard E.J. praying. My heart broke for her. Did she truly believe that God didn't listen to her? I have spoken to him about her several times and he has watched her closely since she was born. He told me the last time we spoke, right after I met her, that she was one of his favorite children. I will admit that burned a bit but having met E.J. I am inclined to agree. She doesn't see what I see, what everyone else sees, she is strong and brave. I have never seen a more passionate warrior and I know all the Arcangels. They couldn't hold a candle to her and she was raised with humans. I see her fear, but she doesn't let it hold her back. I am proud to be her uncle and her friend, even if it means hang out with that enormous pain in the ass, Kyle. I was worried about her being half demon, I thought that would tarnish her soul, but honestly, it just gives her an edge, one I respect.

"Hey, big man, whatcha doin out here being all broody and stuff?" Kyle chirps from behind me.

"What do you want Kyle?" I roll my eyes at the childish demon.

He grins, "I couldn't help but overhear you and E.J. earlier, that was sweet." Kyle shrugs. There are times I really like the kid, but I will never, ever tell him that.

"I don't want her to think she is unloved." I sigh. Kyle's eye meet mine.

"How could she ever think that, we are here with her and we love her. She is all that is left of my big brother, and trust me, she is a lot like him. Fierce, loyal, brave, and one hell of an ass kicker."

I smile, "She is just like my sister too, I miss her, but less when E.J. is around. She is all the best things about her mother and father rolled in to one tiny exploding package." Kyle nods his agreement. I bid him goodnight and head off to get what little rest I can.

Kyle's POV

Gabe likes me, I know it. He likes to act like he hates me, but he can't. I'm just too lovable.

"Tooting your own horn again, son." Levi says coming to stand next to me. I grin at him.

 "I guess." I shrug.

He laughs, "E.J. is remarkable isn't she? I would have never guessed mixing an angel and a demon would be so powerful. I am glad it is her, though. I am not sure anyone else could have handled the power without going mad." Dad sighs.

"I agree, she is very grounded, but I think a lot of comes from the life she lived before having any power."

He turns and looks at me, "Maybe, but so many who are abused, turn in to abusers themselves. Most would have made everyone's life a living hell with E.J.'s power and all she is worried about is saving people. Some of these people don't deserve to be saved."

I smile, "Maybe not, but that isn't our call, is it? We don't choose who lives and who dies, we don't choose who goes to heaven or hell, we simple dish out their punishments based on the lives they lead."

Dad beams a smile at me, "You are right and you have been paying attention. I am proud of you, you know. All these years you seemed like you were never going to take your job seriously, but now, you seemed to have grown up."

I hug him, "Thanks, Dad, but I blame E.J." He pulls away and quirks an eyebrow at me.

"Explain?"

I laugh, "She has shown me that not matter how old you are, when you have a job, a responsibility to people, you should step up and take it. It doesn't mean that you can't have fun but it does mean that there is a time and place for everything."

Dad nods, "Good." I smile and tell him good night and head off to bed.

Levi's POV

I see my beautiful E.J. kneeling under a tree, wiping the tears from her eyes. I know what happened, I know a lot, I may not be God, but I am not deaf. I walk over to her and place a hand on her shoulder.

"Hi, Levi. What are you doing out here so late?" She stands and looks at me.

"I could ask you the same thing, but I already know the answer. Before you ask, I did some snooping around and found out that there are more of those Super demons here in the area and they are destroying everything since the man who controlled them is dead. Don't blame yourself, you had no idea. We just need to stop them, this I can help with because they were never meant to exist."

She sighs and looks at me with those bright green eyes, "How many and where?"

I close my eyes, "Over a hundred and they are headed for your mate's pack house. I just found out."

She gasps in surprise, "We need to stop them, those people will be slaughtered!"

I nod, "Let's round up the troops." She takes off inside and I watch her spring into action, handing out orders and making sure everyone has what they need, just like her Father.
