Chapter 2

Safe haven: Months after the ending

The safe havens community was Wardell growing they managed to build huts for each individual citizen that they established because some of the immune s were architects pretty soon they would build sorts stable houses some were scientists, who new how to bring back electricity and many more. Over the past few months they've been exploring the island and they soon found a whole town abandoned that had everything they needed, Stores, housing, food, along with many more. They were working on cleaning the town out hoping to populate the town they would soon name paradise.

Even though they had lost so much they had regained a new hope finally they were all at peace except for one person......Thomas.

He longed for everyone that he lost Chuck, Albany, Winston, Newt, and Teresa. He blamed  all of their deaths on himself. Minho and Brenda assures him it wasn't but deep down he knew. He knew with all of his heart that it was all his fault. He could've  saved all of them if he had one more chance. If only he made it to Teresa she and Newt would be here right now with him if only.

Every morning he did the same thing he would watch the sun rise his feet resting by where the blue waves would touch the glistening sand imagining his friends above the horizon looking down upon him. He would read Newts note everyday and hold up the last bottle of the cure.

Suddenly he felt a soft hand touch his shoulder.    It was Brenda. Granted he liked Brenda a lot as his friend especially the months that went by after the betrayal they became best friends but he knew she wanted more. He didn't want that though.

"Well good morning sleepy head." She said as she plopped down next to him.

He gave a small smile but continued to stare across the water.

"Thomas it's been months are u sure your okay?"

He sighed. " Yeah....I am.....I guess." He sighed again. He continued to stare.

" Thomas I miss them too but you have to move in eventually it's not your fault everything thing they did was for us to get to where we are now......please." She said and looked him straight in the eye.

He stayed silent

" I don't know Brenda it's just ever since....I've woken up I can't get there faces out of my head."

They both were silent.

" You loved her didn't you?"

He gulped. " Yes."

" Anyways I've gotta go Minho and I are going on another run."

"Oh okay if you need me you know where to find me."

Thomas sprinted off while grabbing his shoes across the sand. He ran to Minho's  hut  where he was preparing.

" Hiya shank you holding in there okay."

" Aight."

They started running through the town that they were refurbishing they found on the island builders and others smiling saying hi. They soon headed to the forest where they had a trail they would run every other day.

This let Thomas' mind think distract himself from his thoughts running made him free. He forgot about the maze, the scorch, the last city all of it.

Together the two kept running and running as the sunrise turned into a glistening cloudless blue sky. Meanwhile he was unaware of what was going on miles and miles away.
