Monday 31st December 2018
'Are you sure?' He paces the floor, the redhead in tears, clutching the test. 'Oh god.' He turns to look at her face, 'Oh god.' He grabs her, pulling her in close. 'We will be okay.' She nods, as he feels his shirt get wet. Leaning down, he wipes the tears from her face. 'I promise.
'No, we won't.' The girl cries. 'I can't do this.' He shakes his head, rubbing his hand up her arms, in a bid to try and warm her up, it's the end of December, it's freezing. 'I don't know if I want to do this.' The pair let go of one another, going to sit on the bed behind them.
'If you don't want too, we don't have to.' He reassures her, 'I will be there regardless of the decision.' He promises her.
'I don't want you to hate or resent me.' She wails, 'If I don't have it there might be that niggling feeling there, but if I do have it what if we end up hating one another?' He shakes his head.
'Dot, I love you more than I love the foetus.' He declares, deciding to use foetus instead of baby, he didn't want to pressure her into anything. 'I will be there regardless, you are my top priority.' She smiles a little, tears still pooling her eyes. 'You are the one whose life will get turned upside down, it won't be me.' She leans into him, as he starts to fiddle with the end of her red hair, twirling it around in his fingers. 'It doesn't matter what we do, you are my main concern.' She nods, as he wipes away the tears. 'We don't have to decide now.' He promises her. 'I have a stable job, if you choose to keep it, we have an income.' She smiles, moving up slightly, so she is sitting at the top if the bed.
'Can you lay with me?' She asks quietly, moving the cover so it covers her. He doesn't answer, instead he moves besides her, taking her in his arms. 'I love you so much Joseph Graham Sugg.' She breathes, wriggling a little to get comfortable.
'Not as much as I love you Dianne Claire Buswell.' She smiles, as they lay there in silence, their breathing getting slower, as they fall asleep in one another's arms.
The pair are awoken by the harsh sound of Joes phone. He picks it up groggily, moving Dianne slightly away from him, as she wakes up. 'Hello?'
'Joseph are you coming tonight?' He winces at the loudness of his mother. 'You said you would be here at8:30, it's now 9 and we are getting worried. He looks at the clock on his side of the bed, crap they have been asleep for three hours. 'Joe?'
'Uhhh.' He says quietly, looking at Dianne, who is equally bewildered. 'Let me check, Dianne had a headache and she went to for a lie down.' He covers, mouthing if she wanted to go to this party that his mum had organised. They were all set to go, and then their worlds were thrown into turmoil, they hadn't quite got to grips with the gravity of their situation. She nods slowly. 'We'll be there within the hour.' He promises, before hanging up.
'We better go.' She tells him. 'I'll drive, it gives me an excuse not to drink.' Joe nods, 'I'm gonna jump in the shower real quick.' She stands up, walking slowly to their bathroom. The flat they live in isn't the best, but it's their place. It hits him that Dianne said she wasn't going to drink, which suggested to him that she was thinking of their baby. Truth be told, he didn't know what he wanted. He would love to be a dad, but at the same time would they be able to handle a baby? He didn't want her to be unhappy, because ultimately, his life wouldn't be altered as much as hers would be. He looks for his jeans, finding them disregarded under the bed, and goes to find a clean t-shirt. Dianne comes out, changing into a nice jumper and jeans.
'You ready?' She grabs the keys, as I nod, grabbing our coats. We walk in silence, getting to the car. She sits in the driver's seat, taking a deep breath.
