The bell rang signifying the end of class. I put my books in my backpack and walked out the door. I began walking towards the school's main doors. As soon as I pushed through the glass doors, I heard a voice sweetly saying my name and softly gripping my upper arm. It was Harry.
"Hey. I didn't really see you after 1st period..is everything okay? I just don't see how you could be busy for the rest of the week if you just moved here three days ago." Harry said, seeming confused and kind of broken.
"Yeah. My mom just wants me to help with unpacking." I lied.
"Oh okay. Can I go over and help?" Harry asked.
"Umm..no thanks. We'll be okay." I lied again.
"Oh okay. Well..call me if you need anything. I could bring you guys take out?" Harry asked, desperate, though I don't know what for.
"I'll talk to my parents. They might still be working right now, but I'll call later."
"Okay. Do you need a ride?"
"Yeah..sure. That would be great. Do you mind?" I asked, not wanting to walk all the way home again.
"Come on" He said, taking my hand and leading me to the car lot. We reached his car and, as usual, he opened my door. He jogged to his side of the car and opened his door. He got in, started the car, and drove off. Not one word said.
"Do you have time for coffee?" Harry asked. His eyes were still on the road.
"Yeah sure. My parents shouldn't be home for another hour. Less unpacking I have to do by myself." I said, adding to my previous lie.
We arrived at The Kettle. We walked in, Harry's hand tightly gripping mine. I found a table while he ordered our drinks. I reached into my purse for my phone. Looking through the slit in my halfway-closed eyelids, I saw a familiar figure pull out the chair and sit down. I looked up. It was Noah.
"Why are you here with him?" He abruptly stated.
"Having a coffee."
"Did you already forget what I told you?" He asked, his eyes darting around to make sure Harry didn't notice him.
"Yeah I do remember actually. It's just coffee, nothing special. Calm down." I told him.
"I just wanna look out for you." Noah warned.
"Harry's not the person you should be with. He's not safe," His amazing, hazel eyes darted to the left, "I have to go." He said, and quickly got up and walked out the door.
"Here you go." Harry said, handing me my coffee.
"Thanks." I said.
"Do you have any homework?" He asked.
"My essay for English. That's it though. You?"
"Oh, no. I finished it all during free period."
He said.
"I could help you with yours?" He added.
"No thanks, I'm okay." I told him.
"Sure?"
"Yeah. Thanks." I said. The thought entered my mind: how could Harry be a player? Why would I have to watch out for him? He was so...nice. I finished my coffee about the same time Harry finished his.
"Ready?" He asked, pulling out his keys from his back pocket. We walked out the door and to his car.
"Thanks." I said as I got in and put on my seatbelt.
"My pleasure" Harry said, smiling as he turned on the car.
"Are you sure you don't need help unpacking?" He asked.
