When I arrived at Cube Entertainment, I was immediately directed to a practice room. There, I found Mr. Lee.
"Hello, Mrs. Davis. I see you'll be working with me from now on. Or rather you'll be working with Pentagon from now on." He greeted me with a smile.
"Hello, Mr. Lee. May I ask why?"
"I'm not entirely sure myself. I just received a call yesterday that you'll be helping me with Pentagon until the end of your internship. I personally don't mind though. You worked well yesterday and the boys seemed to like you. From now on you'll accompany them to their venues and make sure they have everything they need. You'll basically be like an assistant manager to them." He paused, "You're here for a business internship, right?"
"Yes, sir."
"Well, trust me. If you can learn how to manage people, you can manage any business." He says with a smirk. "I have to go work with another group now. The boys will be here any minute now. Good luck." After that, Mr. Lee walks out the door.
I stop for a moment and look at myself in the mirror. I have to take a few deep breaths and calm myself down as I try to process what Mr. Lee just said, and the fact that for the next two months I'll be working with Pentagon. Truth be told, I'm actually a fan of the group. I would never let them know that though. I want to do everything I can to keep the professional environment and I don't want them to feel uncomfortable with the fact that they have a fan working for them. So, I'll just do what I need to do and not think anything about it.
My thoughts get interrupted as the group files into the practice room.
"Hey, Clair." JinHo says, "What are you doing here?"
"Well, apparently, I'll be working for you guys until my internship is over. I'll basically be an assistant manager." I inform them, "Please take care of me." I add.
"Wow, that's cool. I'm so excited." Shinwon says. I smile at that. It's nice to be appreciated.
"By the way," WooSeok begins, "how old are you?"
"Well, I'm 19 years old. So, here in Korea, I'm 20."
"Yes, I'm not the youngest," WooSeok says a little too loud.
"Yes, you are. She doesn't count because she isn't apart of the group." HongSeok chimes in, "No offense Clair."
"None taken," I say with a giggle. "Alright. I do believe you are here to practice. Don't mind me. I'll go collect some water and towels while you begin."
"Thanks!" Hui says before he gathers his group and begins rehearsing their new hit Shine.
I return about ten minutes later with water and towels to find them all strung out across the floor.
"Ya!" I yell, "Get up. You're supposed to be practicing." I go over to WooSeok and lightly kick him in the side.
"We did practice. Now it's naptime." I hear JinHo say as he's cuddled up with a bookbag.
"Nope, get up. Practice Runaway or Gorilla. I don't care. Just get up." I say fiercely.
"Come on," Hui says sluggishly as if he actually just woke up. "She's right. Let's run through Shine a few more times and then work on the other songs we will be performing."
Everyone groans as the get up off the floor. I roll my eyes at how dramatic they are.
I sit in the corner of the room as I watch them practice. After about two hours they were finished and they were tired. While they were practicing I received a text from Mr. Lee that they should do a VLive given that it has been about two weeks since their last group one.
"Okay boys," I say as they all sit down and drink some water. "I need you guys to wash up as soon as we get back to your dorm so you can do a VLive. I understand that you normally record them here, but you are all sweaty and frankly, you all look gross. I doubt you want all of your fans to see you like that either." I look down at my phone as I talk to make sure I haven't gotten any other messages and I realize that Mr. Lee has sent me the schedule for the week. I begin to look over it when I realize I hear absolutely nothing. When I look up, I see everyone looking at me as if I was the stupidest human being on earth.
"What," I say unfazed, "Is there something on my face?"
"Ya, why don't you try learning one of our dances and see if you wouldn't be tired. It's harder than you think." Kino mentions. The rest of the boys just nod in agreement. I bet this has less to do with them being salty with me and more to do with them just wanting to take a few minutes before I rush them off to somewhere else.
"Alrighty. I saw you practicing Shine a lot. It can't be that hard. I'll give it a go." I stand up and face the mirrors which means my back is to them all. I look at Yanan through the mirror who is closest to the stereo. "Do you mind playing the song?" He looks at me dumbfounded for a second but then nods.
"Don't you want us to at least show you how to do it?" Hui asks.
"Nah. I think I'm okay." Little do they know, I actually taught myself this dance a while ago when I was big into learning k-pop group dances. I won't let them know that though.
Yanan plays the music and I start sitting down like E-Dawn use to do. As I go through the song I notice most of them were talking among themselves. Mixtures of amusement and amazement scattered their faces. When I was finishing the song, I locked eyes with Yuto. He had his usual unreadable expression, and at that moment, my anxiety shot through the roof. Being caught off guard like that, I slipped.
I waited a moment to feel the collision with the hard floor when instead I felt arms wrap around me as I was caught. I look up at my savior to find Yanan holding me.
"Are you okay, Clair." He asks concerned.
"Yeah, I'm fine," I say. We look at each other for a moment when we both realize that he's still holding me. We quickly jump apart and I fell my cheeks heat up.
"Ya! Clair, you should be more careful." JinHo says pouting.
"Yeah, it would be a shame if you fell again," Yuto says before he leaves the practice room. I look in his direction in confusion.
"Oh! We have to leave. You all have to get ready for the VLive! Let's go!"
