The boys had a day off and they insisted I come over and hang out with them, so HongSeok picked me up around noon.
"We really enjoy your spending time with us," He explained. "It's nice to work with someone around our age. Everyone else we deal with is older than us. It makes us feel like you're more of our friend than anything. I hope that doesn't sound weird."
"No, no. Honestly, I see you all as my friends. To be fair, you're really the only people I know here in Korea," I confessed.
When we got to the dorm, I laid my phone on the table and went to grab something to drink. I know their dorm like the back of my hand, and I'm also very comfortable in it. Plus, their use to me helping myself to whatever I want. After I got a glass of cold water, I went and sat on the couch and turned on the TV.
"I'm watching a movie so anyone who wants to watch it with me better get out here in the next minute or I'm starting it without you!" I yell loud enough for everyone in the dorm to hear.
The next thing I know, I'm being trampled over as they fight for the couch.
"Seriously, Y'all," I express in English, letting my dialect slip.
"Y'all?" JinHo butchered.
"Aigoo, don't worry about it." I laugh. He looks at me for a second like he's going to make me explain, but he just shrugs instead.
I look around and only see eight faces.
"Where's Yuto?"
"He's still in his room, I think," WooSeok answered.
"Aish, that boy," I mutter to myself.
I go to his room and knock on the door, but as I expected, he didn't answer. So, I walk in and see him playing on his phone with his earbuds in. So, me being the kind and amazing person I am, I go rip out his earbuds from his ear. He shoots me a dirty look before he yells at me.
"What the heck?!"
"We're watching a movie. Don't be a loner," I said bluntly.
"I am a loner."
"Just come watch it with us." I plead. He gives me one last look and when he sees me pouting he gives in.
As we walk out into the living room, I see the boys gathered around the table. I remember what I left on the table.
"Who's SungKi?" Hui asks holding my phone in his hands.
"Nobody," I quickly say as I try to grab my phone from him, but he pulls his hand away before I have the chance to though. JinHo grabs it from him.
"Why does he want to meet up for coffee." He pauses for a second and smirks, "Beautiful," he mocks.
"JinHo. Give me my phone," I demanded, but instead he passes it to Kino.
"Oh!" he exclaims. "He's calling!"
My eyes widen and I dash for the phone. Kino quickly passes it off to WooSeok and he holds it up in the air, out of my reach.
"WooSeokie," I plea, but he just laughs at my efforts. Instead of handing it to me, he answers it.
"Hello, this is Clair's phone?"
"What are you doing?" I whisper-yell, but he completely ignores me.
"Yes, she is here." Pause. "I don't know about that." Pause. "She is a very busy woman you know." Pause. "Wait. Who?" Pause. "ShinWon? Sure." Without a second though WooSeok passes the phone to ShinWon.
"Hello?" he says questioningly. "Oh, hey. It's been a while since we last talked. What a coincidence, huh?" Pause. "Yeah, you should totally do that! It would give me a chance to introduce you to the rest of the members in Pentagon." Pause. "Cool, see you." And just like that, he hangs up the phone just like it was nothing. Meanwhile, I am shooting daggers at him.
"He's coming over." He states nonchalantly.
"A friend of yours?" Yanan assumes.
"Yeah, we went to the same high school as me. His name is Park SungKi. He's a really cool dude."
"What the heck ShinWon! How could you do that?" I snapped.
"What? He wanted to come over. I don't see a problem with that." He defends himself.
"You're such a guy." I spat.
"I'm sorry?" he says in a mixture of confusion and sarcasm.
"So, how did you meet this guy?" I hear Yuto ask behind me. While his voice sounds curious, I can tell he isn't pleased. My thoughts are confirmed when I turn around to see him standing with his arms folded across his chest and his eyebrows raised.
"I went to a convenience store to eat some instant noodles after work and he happened to come in while I was there. He sat down and we talked while we finished our food," I explain.
"And he walks out with your number after just a simple conversation?" He interrogated me.
"Well, there may have been some flirting involved," I muttered.
He doesn't say anything before he walks out of the room and he doesn't have too. I can tell he is pretty pissed at me. What I don't know is why.
"He isn't one to be straight up about his feelings," JinHo says as if he read my mind. "You either need to coax it out of him or figure them out yourself."
I throw my head back and roll my eyes before I sulk to his room. I swallow my pride and knock on the door before I walk into his room.
"Yuto?" I sheepishly say.
"What?"
"I don't understand why you're mad at me." I pause waiting for him to start explaining, but he ignores me. "Will you talk to me?"
"I'm not mad at you. I just felt like going to my room. Now, if you wouldn't mind leaving, I do believe you have a guest coming to my house." He spits at me.
"You're acting like a child." I spit back.
"How is that any of your concern?" He challenges me. I stare at him in disbelief.
"I don't understand you!" I yell, "One minute we're fine and the next you're getting mad at me! And for what? Having a friend?"
"A friend? Is that why he was calling you beautiful and asking you to go to coffee with him?" He retorts.
"So what? I'm not allowed to go on a date? I'm twenty years old in a foreign country! I just wanted to live a little!" At this, his eyes became dark and his fists started to ball.
"Do whatever you want." He says calmly, but harshly, "It isn't any of my concern. I couldn't care less."
His words hung in the air and created a thick atmosphere. As if the situation wasn't tense enough, his tone of voice as he spoke thickened the tension to the point where it could be cut with a knife.
I couldn't care less.
My vision becomes blurry as tears form in my eyes. Not wanting Yuto to see me like that, I run out of his room and out of the dorm. I hear a couple of the boys yell at me as I leave, but I'm too upset to care. I turned a ten-minute walk into a five-minute run, and once I reached my dorm, I slammed the door close. I hit my back against it and slid down, hugging my knees as I cried.
I couldn't care less.
Those words replayed in my head until I cried myself asleep.
