I wake up to my sister jabbing me in the side. Opening my eyes, I buckle my seat belt and wait as we descend into Tennessee. I groan as we hit the runway and the plane comes to a stop.
We get off the plane and head into the airport to the luggage claim to grab our stuff. Once I spot our things, I grab them and hand my sister her two suitcases while I take my two.
Now to find our ride. I thought to myself.
A few minutes later, I see a woman holding a sign with our names on it. Her short red hair fell just above her shoulders and she had bright green eyes. She was wearing a pair of wrangler jeans, a T-shirt, and some old cowboy boots.
I slowly began the walk over to her with Melody at my heels. We finally got to her and she smiled when she saw us.
"Hi! Are you Shasta and Melody?" she asked in an all to cheery way.
"Yeah. I'm Shasta. This is my little sister Melody." I answered in a rather rude tone. But I didn't care.
"Well I'm Abigail but most people call me Abby." She smiled again. "Let's get going so we can get you settled and introduce you to your horses."
I just nodded and followed her through the croud. She stopped by a red pickup truck and put our things in the back. Melody slid in the back as Abby got into the drivers seat and I in the passenger seat.
"We should be there in about an hour and a half, so around 10:30." she said to me.
Its was only 9:30 in the morning? Wow. I sighed and handed my sister my tablet. Then I turned on the hotspot on my iPhone 5s so she could have internet. Knowing her, she'll go to Netflix and watch a movie. Which is exactly what she did.
I plugged my ear buds in and clicked on the Netflix app. Going to my list, I found one of my favorite shows and clicked on it. I felt some what relaxed when 'Once Apon A Time' finally started to play.
About ten minutes in, I looked out the window and just listened to the show while I watched the scenery pass by. Not long after, the episode ended and I turned on my music, drifting into a light sleep.
"We're here girls." Abby said.
I opened up my eyes and looked to my left. Melody was asleep and beyond her, feilds and paddocks were filled with horses of any color imaginable. But only two caught my eye. And they were in a round pen. Alone.
"Why are they separated from the others?" I asked.
No answer. Whatever. I thought.
We pulled up by a weeping willow tree and the loud engine was cut. All around I saw people leading horses, riding horses, brushing horses, cleaning stalls, and just about anything else they could do around or with horses. And then I saw the round ring containing the two horses that caught my eye. I got out of the truck and walked over to get Melody.
"Melody.. Honey... wake up. We're here." I whispered.
She opened up her eyes and held onto the tablet. We walked to the tailgate and grabbed our things.
"Alright. You two will be staying on the third floor. Shasta, you have the last door on your left and Melody, you have the second door on your right." She says as we walk up the stairs.
"No!" Melody says loudly.
"What do you mean no?" Abby answered, rather rudly, I thought.
"No. I'm not gonna stay in that room. I want to stay with my sissy. Please shes all I have left..." she began to cry.
"Shh. Its okay, Melody. I've got you. I'm not going anywhere. I promise." I bent down and hugged her.
"Okay. No problem! I just have to inform Jackie." Abby smiled to us.
I nod okay and we walk to our room. Abby tells us to put our stuff anywhere so we can meet our horses.
"Jackie!" She yells once outside.
A tall brunette turns around and her kind eyes find the three of us. We make our way over to her quickly.
Joy. A fill summer of all to cheery people that are Nothing like Melody and I.
