"Chris?!"
"Leon?! Carter?! What are you guys doing here?" Chris asked. We didn't answer, and there was a palpable tension in the air as we all stood, facing each other.
"Put the gun down, Chris. She's a key witness, we need her!" Leon said.
"A witness?! She's the one who did all this!" Chris yelled.
"No! It wasn't her, it was Simmons! The National Security Advisor!" Leon said.
"I lost all my men because of her!" Chris screamed.
"And I lost over 70,000 people, including the president, because of Simmons." Leon countered. Everyone was silent again.
"She's working for Neo-Umbrella. You know what that means?" Chris asked. Leon nodded.
"Yeah, I do." He said.
"And you're still going to protect this woman?" He asked. Leon nodded again.
"I am." He said. That's when I stepped forward, and gently placed my hand on Chris's shoulder.
"Chris, please. Trust us." I said. I was hoping he would listen to me a bit more, because we had viewed each other as siblings ever since Racoon City. The tension was thick as silence lingered, until:
"Captain!" The man that Chris was with yelled. We all turned, and Ada dropped a flash grenade! We jerked away from the bright light, as she used her grappling hook to get away. Chris's man left to go after her, Leon stopping Helena from following him. Chris was going to follow, until Leon stopped him.
"Chris, wait! We both want the same thing here." Leon said.
"All right. The BSAA will handle Ada. You take care of Simmons." Chris said, and began to walk away.
"Chris." Leon called. He stopped. "I know you'll do the right thing." He said. Before Chris could leave, I gave him a tight hug.
"Be safe, Brother." I whispered. He returned the hug.
"I will. You too." He said, and headed off. Helena looked at us.
"Are you sure we can rely on him?" She asked.
"He's been in this as long as Carter and I have. I trust him." Leon said. I nodded.
"I do too. There's few people that I trust more than Chris Redfield." I said. She nodded.
"All right." She said. Leon turned to the door.
"Come on. Let's find Simmons." He said. And with that, we headed to the door that led out of the building.
"Leon, Helena, Carter, come in." That was Hunnigan. "If Sherry's intel is on the money, Simmons should be just up ahead. Be careful. Hunnigan out." She said, and hung up. With that, we headed out the door, soon making it to the door that led into the Kwun Lung building. We walked in slowly, guns on hand, and Helena was the one to notice Simmons with a bunch of bodyguards around him in suits.
"Simmons!" She cried, and we turned and aimed at him.
"Well, this is unexpected." He said. Just then, Sherry and Jake came in.
"No, wait!" Sherry called, and ran towards us.
"Ah, Agent Birkin. Impeccable timing. Kindly take these three into custody, won't you?" He asked, and I growled.
"They said you were involved in the terrorist attack. Is it true?" She asked him.
"What, are they running down the streets, screaming it to anyone who'll listen?" He asked. Sherry was frustrated.
