(Trigger warning for a bit of violence in this chapter! It isn't too descriptive, but I wanted to give you guys a head up!)
We finally made it up to the roof. Leon kicked the door open, and, unsurprisingly, there were zombies up here.
"Geez. It never ends." I said. That's when Leon noticed something.
"There's our ticket out of here...if we can get to it!" He said. I followed his line of sight. Ada had left us the helicopter! I nodded. Suddenly, a tentacle of some sort came flying through the air, and went into one of the zombies!
"What the..." I muttered. Three more came flying through, hooking into the zombies, causing them to burst into flames, break into sections, then be pulled back to whatever had grabbed them. I followed with my eyes, and growled when I saw what was grabbing the zombies. "Are you kidding me? Are you FREAKING kidding me?! You're still here?!" I asked.
"He just doesn't quit, does he?" Helena asked.
"Enough is enough." Leon agreed. Simmons had, yet again, returned, although this time, he was mutated into the form of a scorpion! "You're finally going to get what's coming to you, Simmons!" Leon said, as we began firing on him.
"I've had it with you!! You need to learn when you've been defeated!" I yelled, angry and frustrated that we still had to deal with Simmons. He was blocking our way, and I was beyond done dealing with him! We gave it our all to get rid of him, and he finally fell to his knees, and the zombies went after him then. We all ran for the door, hoping that that was the last that we would see of Simmons.
"Is he gone?" Helena asked.
"That's what we thought last time." Leon answered, and I sighed.
"Somehow, I don't think that we are done dealing with him." I said, as we climbed up the stairs, our goal, the helicopter that would get us out of Tatchi. Once we were on the highest level of the building, on the roof, the helicopter was in our sights.
"We gotta get to that helicopter!" Leon said. I nodded.
"And we gotta do it fast!" I agreed. We rushed down the steps, and broke down a broken door that was blocking our path. There was a contraption of some sort in the way, so, Leon boosted Helena up on top of it so she could run it, and Leon and I jumped down into the little car beside it. I think it was for window washing. Leon looked at me, as the machine roared to life.
"How are you two holding up Carter?" He asked. I smiled.
"We are doing just fine, babe. Let's hope this is the end of this nightmare." I said.
Of course, it wasn't the end. Not yet.
He nodded, gave me a quick kiss, then walked to the other side of the car to check up on Helena. When I turned around, back the way we had come, my eyes widened in horror at what I saw. I screamed. Leon came running back to me, and I pointed at what I saw, not giving him any time to ask. He saw it too. A giant, mutated fly type monster was coming at us, and spitting things at us! It was Simmons! Still!! I growled, and Leon and I began firing at him, as Helena continued to move us to the other side. Suddenly, the mechanism stopped, but Helena got it working again. Just as Simmons jumped onto the platform we were on, Helena called out:
"Leon, Carter, you're clear! Get out of there!" We nodded, and jumped off the mechanism and onto the platform, as Simmons fell with it. We pulled ourselves up, just to be surrounded by more zombies! Great. We continued moving on, taking out zombies when need be, but we were getting overwhelmed. Finally, we made it to the platform that led to the helicopter, but the tentacles showed up again!! Simmons, in his mutated bug form, was back!
"Alright, we need to ground him, and now! We aren't going anywhere while he's in the air!" Leon said.
"I'm not going to let him stop us!!" Helena cried.
"I am so done with him. He needs to stay down, and we'll make him stay down!" I yelled. We tried going after his head, but he was carefully protecting it. So, I went for the legs instead. That did the trick. He began absorbing zombies to regenerate himself, and he absorbed one that had a lighting rod through it. That did some damage! I smirked, I had an idea. "Leon, I have a plan! I need you and Helena to go for his legs, then when he's down, go for his head!" I cried, dodging his sharp claws. Leon nodded.
"Got it!" He called, and did as I said, while I grabbed the lightening rod, and shoved it through another zombie. Once he absorbed that into his head, that did the damage we needed. He tried to stay on the platform we were on by digging his claws in, but it didn't work. He fell, flinging Leon to another platform as he went.
"Leon!!" I called, and ran over to him.
"I'm alright. Let's get out of here!" He said. I nodded, and we ran, as the platforms were now falling apart. We finally got to the helicopter, where a rocket launcher was leaning up against it. I grabbed it, and as Leon was about to open the door, a claw grabbed onto the helipad. Are you serious?! I growled, I was so DONE with Simmons!! He pulled himself up, and raised his claw, ready to strike us down. Before Leon could grab it from me, I aimed the rocket launcher at Simmons.
"Game over, Freak." I snarled, and let the rocket fly. It hit him, head on, and he fell backwards. We ran towards the edge of the helipad to watch what happened. The outer casing of the mutation, the giant fly, fell apart and burned up around him, as he fell, finally landing on a spike that stood out from the logo of the Umbrella Corporation. He tried to mutate again, but he couldn't. It was over. Derek Simmons was dead.
"That was for my sister!" Helena growled. Leon gently placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Come on. Let's get to the chopper." He said. We walked over, and he opened the door, to find Ada's Make-up compact sitting on the seat of it! Why would Ada leave that here? Leon picked it up and opened it. After looking at it for a second, the make-up part of it lifted up, revealing a small chip. Leon picked it up, gave the compact to me, then placed the chip in his communicator. Helena gasped a little, and I did too.
"Leon, this is..."
"Evidence that proves Simmons's guilt." He said. I smiled.
"Thank God." I said, leaning on Leon's shoulder a little. Now that my adrenaline wasn't pumping anymore, I was exhausted!
"Which means it will prove yours and Carter's innocence." She said, and I looked at her, as did Leon.
"Our innocence!" He said, referring to her as well. She looked away.
"I don't need it." She said. I placed a hand on her shoulder.
"Well, you're getting it. I'll see myself convicted, before I let you be punished for Simmons's crimes." I said. She looked at me.
"Why do you care so much about me?" She asked. I smiled.
"You've become a trusted friend to me, Helena. And friends don't turn their backs on each other." I said. She smiled and gave me a hug, which I returned. That's when Leon received a call on his communicator, which he answered. It was Hunnigan.
"Good news, Leon. We found a way to defeat the virus." She said. Just then, something exploded behind us, shoving me into Leon's back.
"Copy that, we're on our way back. See you soon." Leon said, and shut the communicator, turning to us. "Let's go!" He said. Helena got in first, climbing into the back, then I followed, sitting in the co-pilot's seat. Leon jumped in after, shutting the door behind him and starting up the helicopter. And, with that, we left, leaving the aftermath of another bioterror attack behind us. And hopefully, it would be the last.
