CH 22 - The plan

Chapter 22 - The plan

The euphoria lasted what felt like days but in reality, was no longer than a few minutes. I wanted to stay wrapped up in his arms for the rest of time. I no longer wanted to be a Luna or even a person I just wanted to be with him.

His lips pressed harshly against mine, demanding, hot, strong, everything I returned back at him. I opened for him and he swept in, harsh, claiming, brutal yet gentle. He seemed reluctant to pull back but after a breath of air, his lips didn't return to mine but moved torturously slowly along my jaw.

I sucked in a sharp breath is his breath tickled my neck and trailed lower until I let out an embarrassingly loud moan as his lips touched a soft spot. Cody growled in pleasure when I tugged lightly on his hair, an answer to the inner battle he was fighting. I felt his canines prick my skin before he hesitated.

I pulled his head up to look me in the eyes, conveying all my feeling through them so he could see how much I wanted this, wanted him.

He didn't hesitate this time and at first I felt pure bliss until hot raging fire consumed my body, I screamed in pain but Cody was lost to the feral animal instinct his wolf relented to during the marking process.

I had heard it was painful but never realized it would be quite so brutal. As Cody retracted I felt it slip into place, a bond, between me and each member of this kingdom Cody had made for me, for us.

I could feel each and every one of them but more importantly him, I could brush against his mind with mine, speak to him through not only words but emotions too. His lips reclaimed mine as I spoke silently down our inner barrier to him, I showed him memories of when I first watched him smile or our first kiss. It wasn't only bliss shining in my eyes when he looked into them but something else reflected in his too, something I was afraid of but felt stronger than ever.

My heart seemed to surge out of my chest with happiness, I felt like I could fly and my lips pulled up into a wide grin, something I had not done for a long time. He brought out the best in me and I wanted to preserve the feeling for all the times I felt lost.

A large mark for an Alpha but mine was quite possibly even bigger for how powerful my mate was. I wished it could have last forever but not even moment later, after Cody had helped me clean out my mark, a fist banging on the door interrupted us.

I let out a huff to which Cody snickered at and I pinched him before pulling open the door. It was Riley, his eyes went straight to my shoulder where my new mark sat and then to Cody. Pure lethal rage shone in his eyes and before Cody or I could move Riley had Cody pressed against the wall.

They bared their teeth at each other and growled before Cody shoved Riley off. I knew he was being more careful because of how mad I would be at him if Riley was injured.

"Did you force her into it?" Riley growled and my eyes went wide. Did he truly think Cody would do that? Riley must have taken my silence and wide eyes as a yes because he growled again before launching himself at Cody.

I stepped in just in time to throw him off and into the large bookshelf, I didn't want to see him injured but he wasn't harming my mate either, Hailey was baring her teeth and growling at Riley, my eyes changing from my natural colour to a dark green as I tried to calm her.

Cody's arms wrapped around my waist to help calm me but it only made Hailey want to jump him more instead of attacking Riley now. I huffed and told her to stay quiet before gingerly offering Riley a hand.

He took it but used his other arm to push himself up, he was treating me like a doll. "No, he did not force me," I said finally, a proper answer so he wouldn't do anything irrational or stupid. Riley stilled looked tense at the idea of Cody marking me but seemed to drop the subject knowing there was nothing he could do.

"Now, with that sorted why did you come barging in here like a madman?" I said putting my hands on my hips and moving out of Cody's embrace before I couldn't keep Hailey back any longer.

"I was thinking about what you said last night and before you arrived I had spent a good amount of time getting to know our parents before I saw their true faces," Riley said and I nodded, my parents must have gone in search of their lost son before trying to find me. "Dad always plays a mental game, makes you like him then shows his true colours or tries to manipulate you into seeing things his way."

"They're trying to get into our heads, they want us to be weak and vulnerable before they physically attack," I say finishing off for him realizing it to myself. Cody looked pissed and Riley looks ready to kill someone and the combined anger from the two of them is enough to make any sane person run for the hills.

"We have the advantage because we know their plan and I'm guessing they still don't know that you've figured out that they were trying to use you," Riley says and Cody nods in agreement before he frowns in thought.

"If we play along and make them believe they still are one step ahead then we'll be playing them not them playing us," Cody says after a moment and I fail at suppressing a grin, the image of my parents faces when they're believing we're weak and then really we played them flashes in my mind.

"That grin is creepy." Riley comments after a moment and I poke my tongue out at him which he childishly returns. "Why are you grinning?" He says after a moment.

"Just picture dad's face when his children finally outdo him when he's always been the puppeteer our entire lives," I say and realize how insane I sound my Riley laughs loudly and Cody chuckles as if envisioning the situation too.

"It's a plan then, we'll manipulate them into attacking us because they think we're weak," Riley says after a pause and Cody nods to him as he leaves quickly, he seemed ready to leave when Cody and I couldn't stop glancing at each other.

"You're the most cunning person I've ever met," I say as he pulls me into the circle of his arms and I grin up at him. He rolls his eyes but smiles too.

"And you're quite possibly the most insane person I've ever met but you're perfect all the same." He whispers back softly and I slap his shoulder playfully before pecking his cheek and running out of the room.

I hear him growl loudly as I dart out of the room and towards the kitchen. I laugh loudly before clamping my lip shut so he doesn't hear the direction I'm running.

Loud footsteps thunder behind me and I hold back another giggle as he growls yet again before speeding up and running further into the house.
