Hi! It's me, sorry I haven't updated in so long! I've had the worst writer's block ever. I have a very clear outline of what's going to happen with this, I just didn't know how to attach it properly to what I've already written. Anyway, it's 12.30 am where I am and I just finished this chapter and the one after it (I'll put that up tomorrow, though I doubt anyone's actually reading this in real time lol so it probably doesn't matter).
I just wanted to say that as an excuse for the quality of this, I know it's not top-tier. Ok, let's go!
I wake up in that way where I'm not sure if I'm actually waking up, floating somewhere between existing and not existing. I think I can hear birds, and somebody's breathing beside me, and maybe faint voices. I lie still for a few moments, enjoying the warm, peaceful feeling.
The person breathing next to me sighs, and an arm tightens around my waist.
"Loki," I whisper, smiling slightly. I'm in Asgard, with Loki.
"What is it?" he sighs, tucking his face into my neck and kissing just behind my ear.
"Nothing," I laugh, turning in his arms to face him. "What time is it?"
"I don't know, I can't see the window from here."
I roll my eyes, sitting up and leaning over him so that I can see outside. The sky is pale blue, with the faintest hint of pink still lingering from the sunrise, and a few bright white clouds floating high in the atmosphere. "Early," I say, craning my neck to see more. The city that was beautiful last night is even more so today, sunlight making every golden surface shine like... well, gold I suppose.
Suddenly, Loki grabs me around the waist and pulls me backwards, laughing at my squeal of surprise. He kisses my cheek, then my jaw, then my shoulder where my pyjama top has slipped down. I curl up as best I can, squeezing my eyes tightly shut and wrapping my arms around my knees.
"That's not going to save you, love," he says, and I can practically hear the smile in his voice.
"Says who?" I shoot back, biting my lip.
"Says me!" he reaches around me, poking my sides until I'm crying with laughter and unable to keep myself curled up.
"Stop it!" I gasp between fits of giggles, weakly batting away his hands. He draws back, allowing me a few minutes to catch my breath.
"Are you alright?" he asks, brushing a piece of hair off my forehead. I nod, then take his hand, turning it over and lightly kissing his knuckles. He tilts his head to the side slightly, studying my face quizzically. He smiles, then leans down and ever so gently kisses my lips.
I shift positions slightly, tilting my face up to kiss back. Loki props himself above me with his elbows, his body pressing against mine in all the places it matters, his hair tickling my cheeks. His tongue grazes my bottom lip, and I obediently part my lips, allowing him entrance to my mouth. One of his hands moves to my leg, his cool fingers brushing over the skin of my thigh...
There's a knock at the door.
We both start guiltily, turning towards the sound. Loki frowns, then looks back at me and shrugs. He gets up, padding softly out of the bedroom.
"Broth—" I hear, then the click of a latch.
"What is it?" Loki asks, sounding mildly annoyed.
"I brought food," Thor says, and I get up, following the voices to where Thor stands in the doorway, two plates balanced in one hand and three cups in the other. He lifts his hand to wave when he sees me, but thinks better of it when he almost spills whatever is in the cups.
