"(Y/N)-ya... How?"
She winced and squeezed his hand while holding her face with the other.
"I'm sorry I didn't–" she gritted her teeth. "–Ngh! Tell you before. But I can't–Law please! Kill it!"
"What's happening? Why isn't the bracelet helping?!" he questioned, alarmed as she began to writhe in pain.
She let out a loud cry before holding herself while her body jolted.
Then it dawned on him.
Akuma wasn't trying to take over... She was killing (Y/N).
He got up quickly and activated his room.
"(Y/N), which one?!"
Before she could answer, another wave of excruciating pain hit her and he watched as her eyes rolled back before she fell down against the mattress.
"(Y/N)?!" He tapped her face in an attempt to wake her, but without any success as her body kept convulsing while she stayed unconscious.
He gritted his teeth before taking a deep breath.
"Mes."
The straw-hats rushed inside after hearing (Y/N)'s screams and watched as Law stood in front of her unconscious form with one steadily beating heart in each hand.
"Torao?! What's happening?!" Luffy rushed over and looked between him and (Y/N).
"I know as little as you do Strawhat-ya. But Akuma was killing her from the inside and the bracelet wasn't helping." He looked away from (Y/N) and turned his attention to the group who stared in disbelief at the two hearts in his hands.
"It's too risky to try and put one back when we don't know which is which. If we're wrong then we're doomed."

While they were nearing Zou, Law sat anxiously and stared at the hearts on the examination table – trying to find a sign, any sign, that would tell him which one was (Y/N)'s. But nothing stood out as they both kept the same steady pace.
He frowned to himself. He hated being kept in the dark – especially when someone's life was at stake. And this wasn't just anyone. It was (Y/N).
Was she born with this condition?
Were the two hearts the reason she could have several devil fruit powers?
Has Akuma always been a part of her?
He remembered seeing the bracelet in (Y/N)'s memories, so that might be the case.
But how was that possible?
He sat down beside her and moved a strand of hair out of her face. "(Y/N)..."
Her skin felt so cold under his touch and his worry grew tenfold.
What if they didn't find out in time? What if they didn't find out what to do at all?
What if she actually died?
He shook his head to himself. He refused to lose her. He refused to go another day without seeing her smile. He refused to go any other day without her.
She was going to pull through this and when she's had enough strength – he was going to introduce her to his crew.
He smiled to himself at the thought of her meeting Bepo.
She would love them. They would love her.
How could they not love her?
She was smart, considerate and had such strength in her. Sure, she was inexperienced in many areas and her past would probably haunt her for a long time.
But the ability to always, somehow, make sure everyone around her was happy was not something ordinary people possessed. She was the kindest person he's ever met.
The fact alone that she had managed to make him genuinely smile was proof enough.
She was special.
His eyes widened a bit before they softened and a warm glint showed.
The jealousy, the irritation, the concern and especially that warm feeling he had whenever he was near her.
It finally made sense.
He cupped her cheek and leaned closer and brushed his lips right by her ear.
"I love you."
A sudden loud beat was heard and he looked over to the examination table – watching as one of the hearts rhythms sped up.
"(Y/N)?"
