The next day when I rolled up to school in my yellow, ancient Volkswagen Beetle and started walking into school Calix walked right up to me and matched my stride walking in sync with me. "What's up Wylde?" I asked giving him a side glance.
"Not much Fox, just walking with my newfound bestie to first period!" He said casually and added a sarcastic pep in his step, acting like an excited 6 year old.
"Bestie huh? Our friendship is moving pretttyyy fast," I joked, raising my eyebrows at him.
"Well I figured neither one of us has any other genuine friends, so that automatically makes us besties." He explained as if it was the simplest thing in the world.
"What do you mean? I have plenty of friends!" I shot back, insulted by his comment.
"Sure sure yeah but are any of them genuine? I mean you didn't hesitate to sit with me at lunch yesterday," He said this blatantly as if it were obvious.
"Yeah I know but I never thought it would be that easy to pick up on, that obvious." I said this looking down at my scuffed up leather lace-up boots.
"Hey, I didn't mean to be insulting I just meant that it's hard to find someone genuine, someone to connect with." We had now made it to first period and we're just standing outside the door.
"It's fine, I mean I get it, clearly since I have no genuine friends." I felt like it was getting awkward now, shouldn't we be going inside?
"You have me." He said this easily, and I realized, this weird, gorgeous guy genuinely likes spending time with me. As I looked into those icy blue eyes I realized, there's no way I can ruin this with my stupid crush on him. So I pushed it down. Hard.
"Well good. Now we should probably get inside, otherwise we're gonna be late," I nudged him with my shoulder and opened the door to walk in. He grabbed the door for me and followed me in and to our seats.

Throughout class I kept feeling him glancing at me from time to time but I pretended not to notice. Why does he keep doing that?

When English finished we walked together in silence to theater. And when we walked into class he just kept following me and took the seat next to me. (There wasn't a seating chart)
"Hello class! Let's just get right on to it! Today I'll be giving you a script and you and your chosen partner will practice it and present it on Friday. I have high expectations!" She then picked up a thick stack of papers and started passing them out.
"Yo, Fox wanna be my partner?" This random guy, Danny I think, asked me.
"Sorry she can't she's already my partner, sorry not sorry." Calix butted in. I turned and glared at him.
"Oh sorry, maybe next time?" Danny said then quickly turned away embarrassed.
"What the hell was that?!? I can speak for myself you know, and I never said I would be your partner." I fired at him, put off by his sudden possessiveness.
"Sorry sunshine, I figured I would just answer for you, save you the trouble, ya know?"
I just continued to glare at him.
"Don't do it again." I answered shortly.
"Noted," just then the teacher came around and dropped a script on my desk. It was about 3 pages long.
"Uggghhh this is gonna be so much work," I groaned, Calix snatched the script from me.
"We'll have to work on it after school, my place or yours?" Calix asked, still looking at the script. I just stared at him awkwardly.
"Ummm, my place... I guess? My parents work late so we'll have peace and quiet," I said casually although I was freaking out on the inside.
"Alrighty, you wouldn't want to see my place anyway, very messy, should I just follow you to your place or..." Calix asked, seeming unfazed by this conversation.
"I can just text it to you if you want," I suggested, even though I didn't even have his number yet.
"Oh I see now, was this just a clever ruse for you to get my number?" Calix teased, and I blushed... and glared. "Don't glare at me it's not my fault!"
"It really wasn't, you can just follow me home if you want, sorry."I turned back in my seat and slunk forward, not looking at him.
"I was just kidding, gimme that," He snuck his hand into my jacket pocket, snatched my phone and proceeded to put in his phone number.
"Soooo come over at 4?" I asked him trying to fix my sour mood.
"Sounds good," Calix always seemed to have his cool but I was mentally freaking out, what if my house didn't meet his expectations or he saw where I lived and didn't want to hangout with me anymore. I'm being crazy, I know that. I pushed down my fear and we continued to work on the script.

—————

We worked all through class and then split up and met back together at lunch, we sat at the same table. Just the two of us, and then we walked to chem together and split up for our last two classes. Now I just had to race home, clean my room and everything will be fine? Ugh this isn't gonna go well.
