Calix left shortly after our bagel breakfast and I took a shower, washing off the sweat from last night. I tossed on a yellow sweater, acid washed jeans, and pulled my hair into a ponytail. I went downstairs and watched Supernatural on our flat screen for about an hour and a half, and then got a text from Calix.
Just got out of the shower, sis is really excited to meet you.
And then his address. I jumped up and ran to grab a jacket then yelled up to my parents, "I'm going out! Be home later!" I grabbed my keys and whisked out the door. His house was only like a five minute drive. I could've walked if I wanted.
Calix's house was beautiful. It was a tan house with Japanese style red roof shingles and a huge balcony and porch. Vines crawled up the sides just to add to the whimsy. I shut my car door and walked up the porch steps. It was an extremely intimidating. I knocked on the big double door and it opened to reveal a gorgeous, tan girl with platinum blonde hair, impossibly high cheekbones, and freckles. This was clearly Calix's twin. The only difference between the two was that while Calix's eyes were a light blue, and hers were a deep, dark blue. They looked like the ocean. She beamed at me brightly which showed off the gap between her front teeth which made her even cuter. "Oh my god! Are you Jae? It's so nice to meet you!" She pulled me in tight for a hug without even waiting for a response from me and I gasped, surprised by her friendliness. She let me go quickly, "oh I'm so sorry I didn't even let you talk, I'm Luna, Calix's brother." And as if he were just summoned he popped his head out the door.
"Jae?" He said surprised to see me, "Sorry I didn't know it was you otherwise I would've answered the door myself." He steps outside and looks down at his shoes, rubbing the back of his neck.
"It's fine, really I was just getting to know your sister." I answered, reassuring him. Then turned to Luna, "it's so nice to meet you! I've heard a lot about you," I told her and her smile just intensified, that had to be hurting by now.
"Really? That's surprising, although he does talk about you constantly, it never ends." She rolls her eyes and puts her hands on her hips, clearly teasing him.
"Mmhmm thats enough Luna, Jae would you like to come inside?" He asks me and I nod. I step inside and take a look around, it looks even bigger inside. He gives me a quick tour of the downstairs. There's the normal stuff like a living room and kitchen but then there's other added rooms like a library, art room, and indoor greenhouse. I am beyond impressed. He shows me the backyard and there's an amazing pool and hot tub that make me impatient for summer. We end up back in the enormous kitchen.
"So obviously you two are twins but why don't you guys go to the same school or live together?" I asked, this had been nagging at me for a while.
Calix answered, "Well I live here, clearly, with my mom but me and my dad don't get along with each other so Luna lives with him on the East Coast." He smiles at me then gets up and pours us all glasses of iced tea.
"Why don't you and your father get along? If you don't mind me asking," I said tentatively, I didn't want to rock the boat on whatever was going on there.
Calix sighed, sliding me and Luna the glasses of iced tea across the island in the middle of the kitchen. Luna answered, "my dad wants Calix to take over his business but Calix doesn't want to and it's escalated to the point where they can't talk or be in the room without fighting." She sighed and Calix glared, angry with her sudden bluntness.
"That's the short version of a very long story. Let's change the subject," Calix says, looking down. There was clearly more to the story but I wasn't going to push it.
"Alrighty, who's older?" I asked with a sly smile. Luna clutched her chest in fake agony and pretended to fall off her chair. "I'll take it that Calix is older?" I asked.
He nodded, "by 8 minutes," he smirked and took a sip of the tea.
"What can I say I like to take my time," Luna said. She had righted her self on her chair. I laughed.
"Mmhmm more like you're just slow." He replied, and I just smiled and took a sip of my drink. Something made a ding noise and Luna pulled out her phone checking it.
"Oh jeez I forgot I have an old friend to meet, I'll see you guys later!" She got up and gave me and Calix each a quick hug and whisked out of the room.
"Welp, I guess it's just us now." I said with a shy smile. I looked up and Calix was looking at me intensely with a small smile on his face. "You still haven't showed me the upstairs," I hinted, I was curious about the upstairs but I really just wanted to see his bedroom.
"Right this way, Miss Fox!" I laughed a little and he led me up the spiral staircase. It led into a huge family room which had an amazing balcony. The room had a pool table, foosball, a flatscreen tv, and a huge couch. Then he showed me the two guest rooms, his moms room, and last, at the end of the hall, his room. His room was spacious. It had a tv, small couch (love seat actually), a king size bed and books. So many books. There is a library in his house and yet he still has stacks and stacks of books just piled on any surfaces and even the floor. Some of the stacks reached almost to my waist they were so high. I looked around in wonder. "You like?" He asked looking at me.
"Like it? This is amazing! I didn't know you read this much!" I exclaimed and he sighed in relief.
"I thought you might not like it, I thought it might be too messy for you." He admitted and I laughed.
"Are you kidding? Have you seen my room? I am the queen of messiness!" I joked and he laughed.
"Well wanna play some pool or something?" He asked.
"Sure I just wanna do one thing," I told him.
"And what would that be?" He smirked.
"This." I turned and ran to his bed and jumped on it spreading my arms and legs out. It had memory foam! So comfortable. "How's it so squishy?" I exclaimed in exasperation. He laughed then flopped down beside me. He turned his head and looked at me with a soft smile.
"The miracle of memory foam, of course!" He said bragging.
"Ugh, rich kid." I teased and he laughed. I flipped onto my stomach and put my head on my arms. I closed my eyes and inhaled deeply. "It smells like you in here." I breathed out. I waited for an answer but it didn't come. I opened my eyes and Calix was just staring at me, deeply. I turned onto my side. "Are you ok?" He nodded.
"You know I like you, right?" He confessed. I opened my eyes wide in surprise.
"Really? Wait, why?" I asked him. Genuinely confused. Why would a gorgeous boy like him like me? He laughed and shook his head.
"A smart, gorgeous, hilarious girl, I would be stupid to not like you." I blushed and looked away from him.
"I like you too." I admitted. I expected him to have some sort of surprise but he just said,
"I know." I was shocked. Again.
"What how?!?" I asked and he chuckled.
"That night you were extremely drunk, right before you went to sleep you told me you liked me." He told me and my jaw dropped. I covered my eyes with my hands and groaned.
"Oh my godddd I am the worssttt." I groaned out and shook my head. He laughed.
"you're really not I promise, it was honestly pretty cute." I could hear his smile.
"Ya no I wanna die now thanks." I pulled my hands away from my face and opened my eyes. Calix was staring at me intensely. I stared back. He leaned a little towards me, I bit my lip and gave a small smile. He leaned down and his lips softly brushed against mine I brought my hand up and laced them through his hair. He sighed as if he were relieved and pressed his lips harder against mine. I pressed back, hungry. His hands came up and cupped my cheeks. He pulled back and looked into my eyes. He had a small shy smile and I returned it.
"I've been wanting to do that for a while," He said. Then kissed me again quickly. "Now. I've got a big ass tv. Wanna watch something?" We ended up spending the rest of the day curled up in his bed. My head resting on his chest and him with his arms around me. It was the best day I've had in a long time.—————
