The next morning woke up too late. Like at 10:30 late. Like when Calix was picking me up kind of late. My parents were at work so the sound of his knocking at my front door is what woke me up. I shot down the stairs and threw open the door. Calix had a shocked look on his face but he quickly started hysterically laughing.
"What's so funny?" I asked and he put his hands on both sides of my face.
"Nothing, you just sort of look like you have horns. It's adorable." He kissed my forehead. "Go get dressed then you can tell me what happened." I nodded and ran back up the stairs. I ran into my room and found a yellow floral summer dress and tossed it on.
"Okay you can come in now!" I called, as he was opening my door I raced to my bathroom and looked in the mirror. It really did look like I had horns. My hair was sticking up crazily in different directions. I quickly grabbed my hairbrush and raked it through my hair, pulling till the tangles came out. I tossed it into a ponytail and did my makeup quickly. I put on my glasses and left the bathroom. Calix was sitting on my bed, sitting cross cross and had his head in his hands staring at me happily. He was wearing his usual black jeans and boots but today he had on a tank top along with his black leather jacket, hot as always. I walked up to him and gave him a quick kiss on the cheek then turned to grab some shoes.
"Nice glasses," he commented.
"Yeah yeah whatever, I fell asleep with my contacts in while I was gone and ruined them." I explained while sliding on a pair of wedged, strappy sandals.
"I'm serious, they're cute! I didn't even know you needed contacts."
"Thank you." I stood up straight and grabbed my purse and my phone. "Ok I'm ready now."
"Breakfast?" He asked.
"Shit." I groaned, he laughed. I ran out my bedroom door and into the kitchen. I grabbed a blueberry muffin. "Good enough!" I exclaimed and walked out the front door Calix followed me and I locked the door behind us. We got in the car and I scooted over to Calix and gave him a long, slow kiss. "I didn't get to give you a proper good morning. Good morning." I said happily.
"Good morning!" He said surprised but extremely happy, he pulled a pair of sunglasses out of the center console and put them on. He started the car and I dove into my muffin as he drove. I chewed happily. "So what's this festival like?" He asked.
"Really fun! It'll be even better with you, there's live music and venders and food. So much food, ugh I love food. But it's kinda a big deal, people will drive for hours to go to it, it like a mediocre coachella." I explained.
"Sounds good to me." He smiled and I broke off a piece of my muffin.
"Want some?" I asked.
"Sure," I held the piece of muffin up to his face and he opened his mouth. I popped it in and smiled, he chewed happily and grabbed my hand, intertwining our fingers. Holding it in one hand while he drove with the other. I sighed happily and leaned against his shoulder.
We got there ten minutes later and I strolled happily through the gates, Calix followed with a little less energy. I was practically skipping, I felt like the real me was really starting to shine through and I could just be me. I grabbed Calix's hand.
"Come on! I love this band!" I pulled him through the crowd and he struggled to keep up with me. We made it to the middle of the swarm of people, a pop band I loved was playing and everyone was jumping and dancing to the music, I joined happily and Calix did a little after me, swaying and jumping to the beat. I threw my arms around his neck and pressed myself up against him, moving to the beat of the song, my eyes closed in rapture. This is what I lived for. Soon we were sweating and exhausted. We drifted back to the back of the crowd and sat on the grass, me sitting between Calix's legs happily. The band changed and suddenly it was a lone girl singing an emotional, romantic song. Calix leaned down and kissed under my ear. I smiled and turned my head to give him an actual kiss. It wasn't a quick one though, we were tangled together in no time, enjoying each other's presence to the fullest.
"Jae?" I heard someone call. I broke apart from Calix and looked around. A certain girl with dark brown hair and icy blue eyes was weaving her way through the swarm.
"Silver?!?" I exclaimed, Calix looked at me, questioning. Silver reached us and plopped down across from us.
"Nice to see ya girly! Is this the guy?" She asked crudely. I blushed and nodded. She realized I hadn't told him and her eyes widened and she nodded.
"Uh, yeah, Calix this is Silver, Silver this is Calix." She stuck her hand out to shake his hand and he put his out. Calix looked at me with mischief in his eyes.
"How does she know about me?" He prodded my side.
"Ummm because I told her?" I said shrinking down.
"Can I ask why?" He asked.
"Nope thats confidential girl stuff." Silver butted in, not at all fazed.
"Ahhh ok, makes sense." He said nodding.
"So you actually listened to me?" Silver asked.
"Yeah you gave some pretty good advice." I admitted, blushing.
"Well I mean he wasn't what I was expecting, I mean talk about hot!!" She said even though he was right there, Silver gives no fucks. I heard Calix laugh behind me. "Well I gotta go find my mans, I ran off after I saw you. Let's hangout soon though, k?" I nodded and she bounded off back into the crowd.
"Can I ask?" Calix said, resting his chin on my shoulder. I leaned back into his body. I sighed.
"When I was gone and we weren't talking I met her at a cafe and she gave me some great advice, she could see right through me instantly and saw how miserable I was." I explained, closing my eyes and basking in the sunlight.
"You were miserable?" He asked softly. I flinched and opened my eyes, I didn't mean to say that.
"Um, I guess so, yeah." I admitted looking down. Calix pressed a kiss onto my neck then turned me around so I was facing him. I was blushing fiercely and he put his palms on both sides of my face, drinking me in.
"I was too." He whispered and gave me a soft kiss. I quickly turned it into more though and soon it was a full on make out session. He pulled away from me eventually though. "Want to go look around?" He asked. I nodded happily and we got up and strolled around the festival gorging on food and dancing to our hearts content.
