I stared at Gally. I knew Gally thought I deserved a punishment, but I certainly didn't. In fact, Thomas and I had saved Alby from the Maze. We should have been punished.

But, nevertheless, they had agreed on a night in the pit with no food.

I watched Gally close the "prison" door.

"Do we really deserve this?" I asked him.

Gally glared at me.

"You broke the rules. You're lucky Newt is such a softie for you." he answered.

I sat in on the ground and stared at him.

"Good night." he muttered, walking away.

I sighed and fell onto my back. Suddenly a tune came into my head. It wasn't original... at least, I didn't think it was. I just sang to pass the time.

"Thought I found a way
Thought I found a way out
But you never go away
So I guess I gotta stay now

Oh, I hope some day I'll make it out of here
Even if it takes all night or a hundred years
Need a place to hide, but I can't find one near
Wanna feel alive, outside I can't fight my fear

Isn't it lovely, all alone
Heart made of glass, my mind of stone
Tear me to pieces, skin to bone
Hello, welcome home

Walking out of time
Looking for a better place
Something's on my mind
Always in my head space

But I know someday I'll make it out of here
Even if it takes all night or a hundred years
Need a place to hide, but I can't find one near
Wanna feel alive outside I can't fight my fear

Isn't it lovely, all alone
Heart made of glass, my mind of stone
Tear me to pieces, skin to bone
Hello, welcome home

Woah, yeah
Yeah, ah
Woah, woah
Hello, welcome home."

I heard a slow clap, then more claps and more claps.

"Florie, you can sing!" Newt said, smiling.

I smiled back, but my happiness was interrupted when Gally stepped into view. I figured he had been the one doing the slow sarcastic clap.

"Don't think some words are going to get you out." he spat.

Newt just stared at him.

"Wow Gally. Great way to lighten the mood." Minho muttered.

"Did you make that up, Florence?"

I heard Thomas is the pit next to me.

"Well... I don't know. It just came to me. I think I heard it before." I answered.

I liked it. The tune was pretty and the message was relatable. I had been in the Glade for just about a day, and I could sense everyone wanted OUT; including me.
