Chapter 6 - Secrets

Mugman took the photo and looked at it before understanding why Sophie got so upset.

It was a picture of Sophie's family before the disease...

As he looked at the picture, he saw the tear that Rori had made. He finally understood everything and went out to find her taking the image with him. He didn't want to pick a fight with anyone so he didn't verbally attack Rori but he still hated her.

He could hear the lunchroom full of gossip about the event that just took place as he ran past the tables and ran in the halls to find Sophie curled up in a ball of fluff by one of the exit doors. Small sniffles and quiet sobs could be heard. Mugman ran to her side asking, "What happened out there...?" She started to shake a little every time she heard his voice.

"N-Nothing..." she whimpered out. Mugman then placed the picture of her family beside her and said," Thank you... I can fix it later..." Mugman looked at her in concern but then put a comforting hand on her shoulder. "You wanna talk about it??" "No... I'm sorry..." Sophie felt a wave of guilt hit her like a rock. She didn't mean it but now everyone is gonna be afraid of her when she didn't mean for it to be like this.

She repeatedly said sorry not realizing Mugman was still there. Mugman then placed both hands on her shoulders and faced her. "Hey hey! It's okay it's okay!" Without thinking he hugged her making her jump a bit but then she melted into the hug whimpering into his shoulder. It felt so warm... so comfy... It felt like a weight had been lifted from her shoulders and the 'demon' was officially gone. For now at least. Mugman broke the hug and he knew whatever was wrong was gone. He gave a warm smile and helped her up. The lunch bell rang loudly and caused them both to jump at the loud noise. "Thank you for the hug... goodbye Mugs.." She ran off to go get her sketch book and to her next class. Mugman waved a 'goodbye' and went to grab his book and to his next class.

__________Timeskip to After school______________

Once Sophie got out of her last class and out of the building she was immediately tackle hugged by a certain, friendly wolf.

"AHH! B-Boriiiiiis!" Sophie whined as she looked over her shoulder to see bim clinging on to her jacket. He looked back up at her with sad eyes and a few tears were dripping down his face. "I heard what happened and I wish I could've been there for you!" A few more tears rolled down his cheeks and Sophie turned around to give him a hug. He was much taller than her so her head fit perfectly up to his chest. Boris had been a long time friend of hers. Almost as long as Mugman but he had met her long before Mugman came into the picture.

The hug lasted for a few minutes, but they didn't mind. It was warm, safe, sweet and overall comforting. Not long after Daniel came running up to them with joy in each skip. He always had a happy smile but something about his smile seemed sad but he never looked sad. The only time he has ever been upset was if he got hurt or someone else he cared for got hurt. He ran up and gave botha hug before stepping back and talking about his day. Then out of the blue he asked,"Sophie? When is daddy gonna be back from his trip?"

She froze... She still hasn't gotten over his death and she can't tell a 3rd grader that his father killed himself.

She panicked and didn't know what to say. She tried to start something stumbling over her words but then Boris cut in and said he won't be back for a while. She let out a sigh of relief and gave a look of thanks and looked back at Daniel with a smile to ensure it was true. He puffed out his cheeks a bit but then smiled back at her and hugged her tightly. Soon their bus came and both waved goodbye to Boris as was left standing for his own bus.

As they sat down, Daniel looked outside the window while tail wagging 100 times per second. Sophie couldn't help but to think about what happened today. Why did she lie to both of her best friends and why was she scared. She had been through so much and she was sure she wouldn't be phased by anything else... but she was...

She couldn't fight this on her own, but at the same time she didn't want to bring her problems and issues on to other people... Her thoughts were cut short when she felt the bus make a stop and the sound of the doors opening. She walked out with Daniel trailing behind her the whole walk to their 'new' home. Her thoughts came back to her and it blocked out all the noise around her. She walked inside and let her thoughts control her...

How can she lie to both her best friends that she has known for so long She even lied to her own brother...!  ... maybe instead one of them as a significant other...

She blushed at the thought of one of them as her mate. She lied down on her bed and fell asleep...
