A few days after the incident involving the League of Assassins, Kevin and Barbara decided it was time for them to go on their vacation. They agreed that they both wanted to go to Bellevue for a vacation. They were in Kevin's car, all their packed bags in the trunk. Kevin was driving, and Barbara was sitting in the passenger's seat. They were enjoying the road trip so far. It was peaceful. No villains to deal with, no suits. Just the two of them. Barbara smiled at her boyfriend. "Kevin, I have an important question..." Barbara said, feeling a bit hesitant. "Ask away," said Kevin as he smiled at her. "If we were to ever get serious," said Barbara, "like, if we were to get married... would you ever want to have kids?" Kevin was at first taken aback by this question. He had to think about it. But once he thought about it, Kevin said...
"Actually yeah, I would love to have children with you," he admitted, "truth be told Barbara, I've always wanted to be a father and have children of my own. And I think you would be a great mother." Barbara blushed and smiled. "You are such a sweetheart," she said. But she then looked down at the part where Joker shot her. "But, what if... I'm unable to give you a baby?" Barbara asked, feeling uncertain, "I was shot in the hip. What if Joker intentionally shot me at the part where my body is supposed to make babies?"
"Hey, take this from a guy who was kind of accidentally conceived," said Kevin, "my mom and I have met women who said they were barren. But by the miracle of God, they were able to have babies, and those babies lived. If those kind of women are able to have children, then I think it's not impossible that you'll be able to have a baby of your own. And even if you were still in the wheelchair, I've actually read that paralyzed women can still have babies and give birth to them. So I'm optimistic in thinking that you got a chance, Babs." She smiled at Kevin. "I love you Kevin," said Babs. "I love you too Barbara," he replied. While Kevin wanted to have kids, he was willing to wait. He and Barbara weren't ready to have children just yet.
It took a couple days, but eventually, they made it to Bellevue. Barbara was dozing off. "Hey babe, we're here," whispered Kevin. Barbara snorted, opened her eyes and said, "I'm awake!" She looked at the view of Kevin's old hometown. "Wow, this place is amazing," said Barbara. "Yeah, much as I like the view to Gotham, you can't beat the view of Bellevue," said Kevin as he smiled. Not much had changed since he left the city. He then drove all the way to his mother's house. He then parked his car in the parking lot. "Does your mom know I'm Batgirl?" Barbara asked. "Yeah," admitted Kevin, "I mean, she was the first to help Dad and I with the Three Jokers Conspiracy. But don't worry, Mom can always keep a secret. You can trust her." Barbara sighed in relief.
Kevin walked up to the front and knocked on the door. A minute later, someone answered the door, and it was Kevin's mother, Andrea Beaumont. She looked at her son and said, "hello Kevin." She smiled at him. "Hi Mom." Kevin happily replied. He then hugged her. Andrea kissed Kevin on the forehead. "Welcome back to Bellevue," she said. Kevin then looked at Barbara and said, "Mom, I'd like you to meet my girlfriend, Barbara Gordon. Barbara, this is my mother." Barbara smiled and said, "Hello Miss Beaumont. It's very nice to finally meet you." She kindly shook her hand. "It's nice to meet you as well Barbara," replied Andrea, "you're as beautiful as Kevin described." Barbara chuckled and said, "oh he did?" She smiled at her boyfriend. "Mom, you don't mind if Barbara and I unpack, do you?" Kevin asked. "Of course," said Andrea, "I changed your old room into a guest room Kevin. You can sleep there."
"Mind if I sleep with Kevin there?" asked Barbara as she got out one of her bags. "Just as long as you two don't do anything dirty in there," joked Andrea as she winked at them. "Moooom, we haven't gotten to that stage yet!" Kevin said, blushing. Andrea smirked and said, "That's what I like to hear." Barbara chuckled at this banter. It reminded her of how her father wanted grandkids. They got their bags and put them in the guest room. "I have to say Kevin, your mom has a nice house," complimented Barbara. "Thanks," said Kevin, "something tells me that Mom likes you."
Much later, dinner was cooked. Andrea decided to make lasagna, with some help from Kevin. She, Kevin, and Barbara sat at the dinner table to eat. "The lasagna looks delicious Miss Beaumont," Barbara said, loving the delicious aroma. "Thank you Barbara. So, could you tell me about yourself?" Andrea asked as she began to dig into her lasagna. "Well, I work at a library, so I love to read," said Barbara, "I'm also a tech expert. If you ever have a problem with your computer, I'm your gal."
"That sounds cool," said Andrea, "how did you and Kevin meet?" Kevin ate his lasagna. Once he swallowed a bite, he said, "it was on my first day at Gotham. It was at a bad time though." Barbara smirked and said, "Bad breakup." Andrea nodded and said, "Well it's your ex's loss. He's a fool for throwing away a relationship with someone like you." She took a sip of her drink. "Yeah, it took a few months of bonding," explained Barbara, "but eventually, at Christmastime, we realized we were in love."
"That's very sweet," said Andrea as she smiled. She was happy for her son. "The rest, as they say, is history," said Kevin. "What made you want to vacation here?" Andrea asked out of curiosity. "It involves the League of Assassins," admitted Barbara. "Uh-oh, sounds like the stress got to you two," said Andrea. "There's more to it than you realize Mom," said Kevin, "it turns out, I have a half-brother." Andrea's eyes widened in shock. "What?!?!?!?!" she said in disbelief, "are you serious?"
"Yep," confirmed Barbara, "I've seen photos of your son when he was a kid, and this kid looks like Kevin when he was young. Heck, he looks like Bruce when he was a kid." Andrea was speechless. "His name's Damian," said Kevin, "he's starting to warm up to us, which is a good thing." Andrea smiled. "Well if I get a chance, I'd certainly like to meet him," said Andrea. During the dinner, the three of them had more interesting conversations. After dinner they had dessert and watched Jeopardy. And after that, Kevin and Barbara slept together. Because Barbara didn't have to go out as Batgirl, she and Kevin slept more peacefully through the night.
