Come Monday, Kevin was ready to deliver his big speech at Wayne Enterprises. Bruce invited the reporters that Kevin mentioned. Also attending was Damian, the rest of the Bat Family, Andrea, Church and his wife, Barbara, and her father. Kevin and Barbara were in a private room inside Wayne Enterprises. Kevin was doing some last-minute touches. He was wearing a blue suit with a red tie. Barbara was wearing a not too fancy blue dress with black heels.

"How do I look?" Kevin asked. "You look handsome, Mr. Wayne." Barbara playfully said as she straightened his tie. "It's nice that you were willing to wear a matching blue dress," commented Kevin, "you look beautiful." Barbara blushed and kissed Kevin on the cheek. There was an "ahem," and that throat-clearing sound belonged to Commissioner Gordon. "Am I interrupting anything?" he asked. "Actually no Jim, you're just the man I need to talk to," said Kevin as he looked at Jim, "you see, I'm about to make a big announcement, and I want you to be the first to know."

"Am I expecting grandkids?" Jim asked. "Daaaad!" Barbara said in embarrassment. "Nope, not yet," said Kevin as he chuckled. "I'm just teasing you two," said Jim, "but I want you to know Kevin, you've been more of a son to me than James Jr was." Kevin smiled and said, "Well I appreciate that. What I'm about to reveal is a secret that Barbara and I have been keeping from you since we met. Bruce Wayne and Andrea Beaumont are my biological parents." Jim was unfazed. "I had a feeling," he said, unsurprised. "Wait, you did?" Barbara asked in surprise, "you're not going to go into freak out mode?"

"Sweetie, there aren't a lot of people with the last name Beaumont," said Jim, "the hair's a dead giveaway, and you have your father's eyes. I'm a detective, and I can see a family resemblance." Kevin stroked his hair, thinking of what Jim said. "You're not mad about this bombshell, are you?" he asked. "You haven't cheated on my daughter, so no." Jim chuckled, "but all joking aside, what made you want to come out now?" Kevin sighed, "blackmail. We were in a no-win situation where the safest compromise was me coming out. I did it to protect someone who's like a brother to Barbara." What Kevin said was true, from a certain point of view. "Sounds logical," said Jim, "any more secrets you're hiding from me, Batgirl?"

"How did you know???" gasped Barbara. "Oh come now Barb," said Jim, "was it any coincidence that Batgirl disappeared when you were shot? Or that Batgirl suddenly came back when you could walk again? Plus, the red hair is a dead giveaway." Barbara blushed and said, "I guess you got me there..." Jim smiled and said, "Don't worry princess, your secret's safe with me. Now go on out there and put a show on." Barbara held Kevin's hand and asked, "You ready?" Kevin smiled and said, "With you by my side? Always."
