The next day, Church took Kevin to see his producers. Church talked to his producers about passing the torch to Kevin. And to show how committed he was to his craft, Kevin demonstrated his cooking skills to Church's producers. The producers were easily impressed by Kevin's cooking, and he was hired on the spot, starting on what would be Church's final episode. The day of this episode would be aired live on Wednesday. Kevin and Barbara told everyone they knew of course. They were excited for Kevin.
It was then Wednesday, and it was time to film the episode. Barbara decided to attend the episode to support Kevin. Also with her was her father Jim, her friends Frankie, Dinah, and Kara. The cameraman then said, "And we're live in 3, 2, 1... And, ACTION!" Church then walked up front and said, "Thank you all for coming. I am your host, Chef Church. You know, I have been hosting this show for 30 years. And you've all been a wonderful audience. But, all good things must come to an end. I've sadly lost that creative touch I once had, and due to my old age, I'm considering retirement. But just because I'm retiring from this show, doesn't mean Cooking Time is cancelled. Nay, the show must go on. And thankfully, I've found a successor. But before I introduce to you this successor, allow me to tell you a story. As you know, I've been a popular client of Mr. Wayne. I'd gladly cater for him during his annual charity balls. During this year's, I met some interesting guests, as I usually do. I met the Commissioner's daughter Barbara, and her handsome boyfriend. Now this young man possessed a talent and appreciation for cooking. And after getting acquainted with his cooking skills, I decided he was worthy enough to be my successor. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, your new host, Kevin Beaumont!" Barbara was the first to cheer for Kevin as he walked onto the kitchen set. He was wearing a colorful sweater, blue jeans, sneakers, and a chef's apron and hat.
"Thanks for that speech Church," said Kevin, "Hello everyone." He waved at the audience, smiling. "So Kevin, tell us a little bit about yourself," said Church. "Well, I was raised by just my mom in Bellevue," explained Kevin. "Ah yes, Bellevue. French for the beautiful view," said Church, "so your mother never remarried?"
"After she fell in love with my father, my mother could never love another man," said Kevin, "so it was me and her. But I had a mostly happy childhood. When I was a kid, Mom and I would often bond by cooking together. She'd call me her little chef. It's that bonding that helped me appreciate cooking in general, and that's why I always loved to cook" Church smiled and said, "That's sweet. Perhaps you could demonstrate your cooking skills by preparing the dish you prepared me."
"Ah yes, the vegan truffle alfredo," said Kevin, "do we have the ingredients?" Church nodded and said, "We do." He showed him all the necessary ingredients. "Alright, let's begin," said Kevin, "now the tricky part about making a vegan alfredo is not including the usual ingredients for an alfredo. Here's how I did it..." As the show proceeded, Kevin showed how he made the pasta, making jokes, and showing a likable charm. By then, the vegan truffle alfredo was finished. "And there you have it!" said Kevin, "A vegan truffle alfredo big enough to serve a family of four." Church smiled and said, "Well done Kevin!"
"Thanks Church," said Kevin. Church looked at the audience and said, "Well folks, it's been an honor to have cooked on your television screens for 30 years. Thank you for all the memories. I know that this show is in good hands. I will miss you all dearly." He took off his chef's hat and said, "Bon Appetit and farewell." He took a bow. "Chef Winston Churchill Ross everyone," said Kevin, and the audience clapped for Church. The cameraman said, "And that's a wrap!" Some of the audience began to leave. Kevin shook Church's hand and said, "It was an honor to be mentored by you." Church smiled and said, "And I am honored to consider you my successor." Barbara walked over to Kevin and hugged him. "You did great on your first day babe," she said proudly. She then kissed him on the lips. "I'm just glad you and Jim could come as support," said Kevin. Jim gave Kevin a pat on the back and said, "My daughter dating a chef... Sounds better than Grayson." Kevin chuckled and said, "Well I think I'm gonna like this job."
