I think this is something that should be explained better. When you hear the word fat, what comes to mind? My thoughts go to people who are overweight. The big thighs or stomach pooch. An image of greasy or sweet foods also come to mind, but just because you see the word fat on the side of a cardboard box, don't assume its bad.
As you have, or will, or hopefully learned in school, there are both good fats and bad fats. The good fats (called monounsaturated and polyunsaturated) are things like vegetable oils, fish, and nuts containing nutrients that our bodies need. The bad fats (saturated or trans fat) are, you guessed it, things with high sugar, sodium, and grease. Don't be the person starving yourself because you're afraid or unsure what is good for you and what is bad for you. Most of the food you should be eating are no brainers. Veggies and fruits; lean meats and dairy. They don't generally come from a cardboard box. Yogurts are great (I've recently discovered greek yogurt), but also pricey. I've also recently discovered that being fit is not cheap, but also not impossible. We've all heard that when your young your body is growing and you need more nutrients to help you develop. During this time you also have a faster metabolism. Don't think you should cut down on meals. There's a simple way to eat more food and still lose weight. How? By eating HEALTHY foods.
I would suggest avoiding fast or junk food or anything considered unhealthy, but don't feel bad if you do. Its all right if you eat the bad stuff once in a while and in moderation. Don't deprive yourself of anything. Just give yourself a break.
