Y/n was feeling hot and sweaty after her training session. Being the only girl on the boxing team usually meant she spent days training with a bunch of guys. Her father was the head coach of the boxing team at the university that she attended. Unfortunately Y/n' s mother had died when she was only three years old. Her father was once one of the best heavy weight boxers in the world and had three heavy weight championship belts, two gold and one silver Olympic medal to his name. When an opportunity came for him to teach at a university in South Korea he took it. It was a change of environment and it helped with the grief of losing the love of his life who was also his high school sweetheart. Being the typical man that he was he raised a daughter that was more into sports than Barbie dolls. Although Y/n still loved pink. Her boxing gloves were custom made in the color hot pink. Y/n had showered and walked into her father's office when she noticed that there was a young man sitting with her father. Feeling embarrassed Y/n apologized "I'm so sorry Dad. I didn't know that you were in a meeting. I just wanted to tell you that I finished training and I was on my way home" "Nonsense, I was just finishing up. Y/n this is Sung Hoon. He is a new trainee that here on a full boxing scholarship." While her father was speaking about the new boxer's accomplishments, Y/n was staring at the new guy. He was beautiful. Too beautiful to be a boxer he really should have been a model. She had seen some good looking guys but never had she met a guy as handsome as the one who was sitting in front of her. What really captivated her was his lips. They were so full and plump. She was wondering what it would be like to kiss them when she realized that her father was speaking to her "Huh?" Y/n blinked feeling embarrassed at being caught staring and felt her cheeks get warm. Thank God her dark skin hid the blush that was on her cheeks. Her father repeated himself "I said, why don't you show Sung Hoon here around the gym so he can get a feel for the place. Also introduce him to the team captain and the other members." "Yea, sure thing Dad. Let's go Sung Hoon ssi." Y/n waited for him to follow her. She was shocked at how tall he was because she had to look up at him when he stood. He had to be at least 6"4 and at 5"10 herself she was no short girl. Y/n showed Sung Hoon around the gym and introduced him to the team. She even took him to the cafeteria and showed him some of places at school that were exclusively for athletes to use. After showing him around she proceeded to go home and sat on her bed wondering at the strong attraction she had to the new guy. She has never felt that way about a man. Ever. Y/n decided to forget about it and get some sleep. She had training at 6am and she was dead tired. As time went by Y/n became friends with Sung Hoon. He was not a very talkative person but he was a really chill dude once he warmed up to her and the rest of the team. He was actually very kind and would often spar with her. He never questioned why she was the only girl on the boxing team and the only guy besides the team captain that didn't try to go soft on her when she was training. She learned that while he was at the university on a boxing scholarship he was also studying for a degree in accounting. Sung Hoon explained that if he didn't make it in boxing at least he wouldn't be jobless and have a good skill. However that was unlikely and Y/n had told him so. He had won a silver and gold medal at the world junior championships games. He and the team captain were the only guys that were the top picks for joining the Olympic mens boxing team to represent South Korea. And that was the crux of Y/n problems. While Sung Hoon was a bit cold and straight to the point but he was also genuine and caring. He was always willing to help her improve her technique or didn't mind being her punching bag when she wanted to vent. From the moment she met him she knew that she was attracted to him but as they became friends over the course of the school year Y/n was very aware that she had fallen hard for her team mate. And it hurt like hell that they were just friends. She felt like such a fool. Sung Hoon never did or said anything to make her think that he wanted to be more than friends. He was a honest person and if he felt some type of way about her he would have said something. At least that's what she thought. One day a few weeks before the qualifying rounds began Y/n decided to confess. She figured that he would respectfully reject her and she can start to get over her feelings for him. She had been avoiding him for the past week and felt like a idiot for how she treated him. He didn't deserve the way she had treated him and she wanted to be friends with him without liking him. Y/n walked into the gym and saw Sung Hoon punching and kicking a punching bag. She quietly watched as his muscles flexed and bunched with sweat dripping down his body. 'Damn he's sexy' she thought. She composed herself and made her presence known as if she had not spent the last five minutes ogling his half naked body. "Hey" she said. Sung Hoon kept hitting the punching bag. "Sung Hoon Oppa" Y/n said in soft voice. Sung Hoon stopped and turned to Y/n "I guess you have figured out whatever crap you were going through since your actually talking to me" Y/n winced at the statement. She deserved that but it didn't stop it from hurting. "Look I came to apologize. I was being an asshole. But I have something to say to you. It was the reason why I was avoiding this past week."
"Y/n I'm your friend, if you were going through something you didn't have to shut me out. You could have just told me that you needed some space instead of making it seem like I was a bother to you." Y/n felt even worse. He may not return her feelings but that was no way to treat a friend. He was not perfect but he was always honest with her. She sighed and walked closer to him. It was time to get it all out and put it behind her. His friendship meant more to her than her feelings. "I just wanted to say that I am sorry. And the reason why I was avoiding you was because..... was because I like you. I have liked you for a long time but I know that you don't feel the same. And to be honest it hurts to know that you don't feel that way about me. I decided to tell you so that you can reject me. That way I can get over my feelings and we can still be friends. I don't want to lose you." Y/n looked at Sung Hoon and waited for his reply. She had prepared for the rejection so she was shocked when he said "Why would you assume I would reject your feelings?" Y/n looked at Sung Hoon with bewilderment "Because you don't like me? Why else? Having a one sided crush is very draining and I want to let it go" Sung Hoon took off his gloves and as he walked towards Y/n and said "I was always a strong believer in the saying 'Actions speak louder than words' but I guess I didn't express myself very well" At this point Y/n was confused. Sung Hoon the guy who was known to be a blunt speaker was not making any damn sense. She was further shocked when she noted the soft look in his eyes and the blush that bloomed on his cheeks. "Y/n I don't want you to let go of your feelings for me because I like you too. I always have. You were the first woman that was a genuine friend to me without some ulterior motive. It's very depressing when girls only approach you because they think your handsome and make it a sport to get your attention. Most guys would be happy with all the female attention but it made me feel like an object. You make me feel like an actual person. I very much admire your strength and determination to be in this sport and you're very beautiful. I'm not much for words so I figured I would show you that I liked you. I guess that didn't work" He softly chuckled feeling a bit embarrassed. Y/n internally felt beyond ecstatic. She never thought that he would feel the same way about her. "Well I guess you could make it up to me by taking me out on a date." Y/n asked feeling bold. Sung Hoon smirked and said "I'll hit the showers first then, take you out to eat all the grilled meat that you want"
"A man after my own heart" Y/n replied clutching her heart dramatically. Sung Hoon leaned down looking into Y/n's pretty brown eyes "And I intend to keep your heart and never let it go." Y/n felt a shiver go up her spine being so close to him. She was so tempted to steal a kiss from him but he moved away and smirked. Almost as if he knew what she was thinking. She huffed "You have ten minutes to get ready. I'm hungry." Sung Hoon laughed as he walked into the men's shower room. He felt happier than he had in a long time. This was going to be the first of many dates and he had every intention of finally kissing Y/n tonight.
