I was cleaning up all the viles and beakers, and all the potion crap. With one hand I was picking up hazardous materials, while in the other I was eating an apple. "What are you doing?" a shallow voice asked me.

I quickly chewed down a bite. "I found the book I was looking for," I said, gesturing the the open book propped on the shelf. "It's a potion that has the same effect as holy water," I told him, "I thought it would be sueeful in the fight against Dracula."

"Indeed it would," He agreed, studying a random beaker I had cleaned out. "Unless you would like to go ask a priest for some holy water."

I scoffed. "My relationship with the church is t any better than anyone else's," I reminded him. "It's like there some priest communication line, they've been told to challenge 'the young girl with the hair of blood and eyes of envy.' There was a point in time I was referred to that more than my own name."

"I know how that feels," he sighed. I nodded through the silence.

I then took another bite of my apple, which didn't stop me from talking. "But really, it's quite simple. Just Altris, and Frankcense boiled in grape wine until it loses all color. How it's possible is beyond me, but I won't question the writting of the ancient Belmont."

"If they're anything like the current Belmont, I'd be a bit worried," Alucard advised me.

I sighed. "Just see past his walls," I informed him, "We couldn't help but put them up. I just easily let the sincere in, while Trevor dose to no one. Now where in grandfather's name am I gonna get wine." I held the apple in my mouth, as I sat the herbs next to a bekerover a flame.

"You'd think a rich family like this would have a wine cellar," Alucard commented.

I took the apple out of my mouth. "They did, but it got ransacked as the house burned." I clicked my tongue. "I could go back into town..."

"No," Alucard quickly turned that down. I gave him a sidewase glance. He could t have been worried about me, could he. The dhampire suddenly snapped his fingers. He lightly tapped on a bucket of water I had brought down. "Wasn't Jesus able to turn water into wine?" I wasn't sure where he was going. "You said you could be his daughter."

I laughed at his reference to our previous conversation. "Worth a shot," I shrugged. I picked up a small vile and scooped some water into it. I summoned the ball of light between my fingers, the most basic way I know how to summon magic. I put the vile through it, for nothing to happen. "Welp, that was my shot," I shrugged, drinking the water out of the vile, before sitting on the ground.

"You Belmont really give up easily," he commented with a laugh, and sat down next to me.

I shrugged. "We were raised to succeed the first time, so if we don't, we failed,"I explained. At least I don't get punished for failing anymore.

" Well failure only leads to success," Alucard tol me, "That's at least what my mother said."

A sad smile took over my face at the mention of his mother. I rushed to take a bit of my apple, as to hide it from the man. "They're description of you couldn't be more wrong," he suddenly said. "Your hair is more beautiful than blood. It's richer, and shines just right in the sun, just like silk. And you're eyes hold no envy, not even for the son of the people who treated you like a pet. Or those who best you until you bled. They're bright and strong like emeralds. "

I couldn't help but blush at his cements. All everyone ever said about my traits were that they weren't common, they stood out, and witch like. More often I heard people call me a filthy redhead, or said I had the eyes of a snake. The closest I've ever gotten to a compliment about my looks was when Trevor compaired my hair to the drapes when we were young.

I just clenched my hands and smiled bashfully, feeling a heat flow through my body. I was so glad the bucket of water was between the two of us. I would know what would have happened if we were any closer. I needed to remind myself Alucard was just being nice, we had the same goal, and needed to trust each other. His kindness was nothing else, and I shouldn't return anything more to him.

"Also, I've been meaning to thank you," he said, obviously not noticing the timid state I was in. "I kno the case you rushed down to cover is filled with vampire skulls. Curiosity couldn't keep me away. Then also for the pigs blood. That probably why they beat you wasn't it?" I just bit my lip and nodded just a smige. "So I thank you for trying to make me feel welcomed."

I smiled, grateful , that he was greatful. "It's really nothing," I told him, "No o e should feel unwelcome in a place they were invited into."

A sudden chuckle came from the blond next to me. "Well I don't know what you did," he commented, "but you might be the daughter of Nazareth." I looked to him, seeing him gaze down at the bucket between us. Instead of clear wayer, it was a deep purple of wine.

"We shouldn't tell Trevor that I can do this," I commented, "I'm surprised he hasn't died from alcohol poisoning yet."

I stood up, grabbing the large beaker I had over a flame. "Maybe he has your blessing, Godlet," he teased me.

I groaned. "Please don't call me that," I pleaded, "I'm far from being a God. I'm selfish, glutinous, not to mention my dancing skills."

"How are you selfish?" he questioned me.

I froze as I was putting in the herbs. "I keep too many secrets."
