I sat the basket on the dining table. I had just returned from the village. I had perfected my glamor spells. So my hair could easily go from a flaming red, to the common brown. I left my eyes green, finding it easier to just have one spell going for the time being.
"You're back," Adrian greeted me with a sigh of relief.
I rolled my eye at him. "I told you I'd be fine," I assured him. "See, the glamor worked just fine." With those words I released the spell and my ahie returned to it's atural color.
"After the last time I couldn't help but worry," he reminded me. Alucard argued enough earlier when I informed him I had plans to go to the village. "You came back beaten and bleeding."
"But look," I pulled a sack out of the basket. "I got flour," I proceeded to pull out more items. "and yeast, are basil, and other herbs, and milk. Oh, and a fresh loaf of bread." I instantly ripped of a chunk and took a bite.
He sighed, letting go the previous topic of conversation. "Where did you even get the money for all this?" he questioned, inspecting one of the jars of herbs.
I shrugged as I swallowed. "I sold a few spare weapons from the hold," I informed him. I got a look in reaspose. "It wasn't like they were anything special, just a sword and a couple daggers. The Belmont are freaking hoarders."
"You didn't have the right to sell them," he reminded me, setting the jar down.
"Actually I do," I reminded him with a smile. "Trevor, the last of the Belmont blood line, accepted me back into the family. So that hold is just as much mine, as it is his."
A smirk appeared on the dhampire's lips. "You're dear brother didn't tell you?" he questioned, "He gave it to me."
I scowled. "That fucking idiot," I hissed. "I guess you don't want the seeds I bought either." I threw the few paper packets onto the table. I had gotten wheat, potatoes, carrots, as well as onion seeds.
"How much coin did they give you?" he questioned, obviously trying to do the math for all of that I bought.
I revealed a smirk of my own. "Far more than they should have," I scoffed, setting down the bag of left over coins. I barely spent half of what I got. I just watched proudly as Adrian inspected the coins. "If I can do one thing, it's bartering up prices of things."
"I can assure you, that isn't the only thing you can do," the blond assured me, "This is just one that is new knowledge to me."
I scoffed. "Survival skills," I sighed, "Either in the wild or civilization, I know what to do." The blond lightly shook his head. "What would you like for dinner?" I asked him, throwing my cloak down over a chair.
"How about we make a stew with this fresh produce you bought," he offered, holding up and onion.
I agreed with a nod. "I'll start preparing the ingredients, if you start with the broth," I divided up the tasks. I had once again picked up the loaf of bread and tore off a piece.
"As long as you don't eat everything as we're making it," he teased me. Adrian reached over and tore a piece off of the loaf as well.
I pouted and glared at him. It wasn't my fault I get snacky when I'm cooking. "Hey, if you have a problem with how I cook, you can leave the kitchen," I told him.
"Or you can leave all the cooking up to me," he offered, looking over me.
I nodded my head in thought. "A tempting proposition, but I'm used to cooking my own food."
He poked my forehead. "Indeed you are stubborn." In retaliation I lightly slapped him with a carrot. "As you wish," he laughed.
Onward we want cooking. I chopped up on of everything, carrot, onion, potato, pound of meat. We even added some milk to the stew to make it heartier. All thay was left was to let the stew stew, and run down to get some wine.
"I have returned," I declared, walking in while holding up two bottles of wine. "I found I red one," I informed him.
"Youre welcome to help yourself, but I'll be sticking to white," he assured me, grabbing the bottle I held out to him.
I shrugged and sat down at the place he had set up, across from the one he was sitting at. "I figured as much," I said with a light tone. I poured out only a fourth of a glass for me. I didn't want to drink too much that night.
The conversation stayed light over dinner. We spoke of what we did tm during the day. Adrien had finished the lift in the afternoon after I was done helping. I told him of how strange it was to not get weird looks in the village.
It wasn't until we relocated to the study we relax in each night dose the conversation grow deeper. "You really have such beautiful hair," I told him, after he finally gave innto my persistamt asking to braid it. "I miss my long hair," I confessed.
"You look wonderful with sort hair," Adrien told me from his spot in my lap.
I gazed down to the good orbs staring at me. "You're just saying that," I scoffed, finally starting the plait.
"Why would I lie about something as obvious as your beauty," he said as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.
I just focused on the blond locks running through my fingers. "You really are a sweet talker, aren't you," I commented, "Woman would be lining up to you if you wanted."
"You're the only one I've ever said anything as such to," he confessed. I grew confused. He must have seen my confused expression, and went to sit up. Slowly of corse, as to not get his hands pulled by me.
I knew he was watching me, but my attention was still to my hands. I guess to be in my veiw in some way, he reached out and grabbed my hands. "You are the kindest person I ever met Grace. Many people see kindness as a weakness but you make sure they don't get that from you. You're strong, and so smart. It's your heart that a sounds me the most. You're able to love everything, even those that wronged you. I love you, and I don't know how anyone couldn't."
I clenched my hands, which were trapped inside his. I didn't know what else to do. I could even stop the tears that appeared in my eyes. His hands left mine and went up and cupped my cheeks." What's wrong? " he asked in worry, whipping away my tears.
" How?" I questioned, "How can you love something like me?"
