I had my back to the burning bodies. Not for fear or repulsion, but to see my shadow. My winged shadow. Folded behind me they longest feathers barely grazed the ground. Spread out at the longest, they were about double my arm length. I could easily see them as I wished. They were white, an unnatural white.

"If I believed the Bible, I'd say you were an angel," Sypha comment as she approached from behind. "May I?" she asked as she reached out. With a smile I stretched my wing out towards her. My injuries were far better, but still healing.

I sighed as I felt her hand graze my feathers. "I might be," I confessed quietly. Here hands froze. I looked at her to find a surprised face. I glanced to the other two, to see if they had heard, or if in close proximity. "Dracula had called me a 'heaven spawn'," I told her, ushering her closer. "Through out it all, he himself, along with the other vampires, called me a Niphlem. I can only assume that is what I am, whatever that is."

Excitement was clear on her face. This only caused me disappointment. I have only seen her so excited when she was learning of something new. This meant she knew nothing about Niphlems. "Other speakers might know something," she told me, obviously catching onto my disappointment.

"So you're going back to your people," I commented, before giving her a smirk. "Have you talked to Trevor about this?" Her face turned flustered, and I couldn't help but gigle. "I'm sure he's the only one unaware," I pointed out to her.

"What of whatever it is between you and Alucard?" she questioned me. She once again was inspecting my wings.

I scoffed and rolled my eyes. "I'd say we're friends," I answered, "We get along, which is something rare for... non-humans." I pulled my wing out of her grasp, and stepped away.

She continued after me. "Dose he see it the same way?" the speaker questioned.

I turned too look at her. "I don't see why he wouldn't." I reached up to her cheek, and with a simple bit of magic, I healed her scratch.

Before I could take my hand back, she took it into her own. "Your healing is quite useful," she commented, "Do you want to come along as well, after all, Trevor seems most expressive when he's arguing with you."

I shook my head, and took my hand back. "I think I'm gonna stick around here for a bit," I confessed, "Now that I have a name for what I am, I'm gonna see if there is any information here about me. I'm sure there's gotta be something below us, or in the castle."

"I hope at least you learn to hide your wings, they'd cause plenty of trouble," she teased me, we once again both let out a little gigle.

I set of footsteps approached us. "I can't imagine the nightmare doorways would be," my brother commented. We let out another laugh. "Alucard is going to look around the castle, I say we do the same."

"You guys go ahead, I'm gonna go get me things from the hole," I told them.

"How?" Trevor instinctively asked. I deadpanned, and spread out one of my wings slightly. "Oh yeah..."

With a shake of my head I saunter over to the now gapping hole in the ground. I knew I was always right for calling it a hole. With no hesitation, I fell right in. I spread out my wings to decelerate my descent. My feet calmly touched the ground. Down through the reckage I went. I wasn't awar just how much damage there was. Had I known how much of a struggle Trevor would have, I would have stayed by his side.

I shouldn't worry about the past. We all survived, and Dracula is dead. Still I couldn't help but think on what could have been done better. My brain could run for hours on that one thought.

This could have all been prevent if I just stopped the burning. It's sad that it bacame something so regular to me, I felt it wasn't worth stopping. Even if she wasn't Dracula's wife, she never deserved to die. Had I actual done something, could this all have been prevented? What would have been different?

Before I knew it I stood with my bag at my feet. To be honest I wasn't sure how long I stood there before I came out of my mind. I looked around me to find that nine of the actual hold was daged, just the stairs to get down. I scooped up my bags and turned back around to find my way out. I needed to get the other of my things. I had hid a few things in the rubble of the mansion, thinking it best to keep there. It was a bag of serums, spare clothes, and my lute. No one takes me as the minstrel type.

I was heading to the castle when I saw them loading up the covered wagon they had. I dropped everything and ran over. "You're leaving already?" I questioned them, as though I had been gone a few minuets, not most of the day.

"We've got nothing keeping us here," Sypha told me.

I looked to Trevor, who was basically leaving our family's knowledge out in the open for raiders. "I have it to Alucard to protect,"he explained to me.

I let out a dejected sigh."Fine," I sighed. "At least let me give you something." I let out a shrill whistle.

"What as that for?" my brother questioned me. I just held up my finger in waiting. Up ran Galavant to my side, letting him nuzle into my hand.

I gave them a smile. "This is Galavant, my horse. I'm letting you have him. He's as fast as a crow flies, far smarter than he looks, just like Trevor," I slipped in the sky comment. "If you ever need to contact me, attach a letter to him and send him off. Oh, and you don't need to worry much about him, he still can live as a wild horse, just whistle out and he'll come."

Sypha approached the horse, holding her hand out for him. "Did you train him yourself?" I gave a light nod and stroked his mane.
