Chapter 2: Rachels Choice

Rachel was running, running away from everything. She couldn't take it anymore, she was running. She had to get somewhere high, she had to think.

Rachel Saw Gotham church was nearby, so she ran there. Cuz she didn't have any gear with her, she free climbed the building. When she got to the top, she saw her siblings sprinting towards the fair grounds. Her eyes widened, cuz she saw a man stalk after them.

Without a care for her own safety, she jumped off the night she was at, and sprinted towards her family. She's sure as hell not gonna loose another family to Zucco, not now not ever!

Denali was forced to go with the team to the fairgrounds, to search for Rachel. When they got there, they found Janet and Tammi ties up and gagged to chairs.

"Todd, Drake!" Denali Cried out, She was getting worried. Who could have done this?!? The team and her rushed forward to free them, that's when the team were all taken down. Denali was grabbed from behind, and she was struggling.

"Now now, I wouldn't do that if I was you brat. Don't wanna have your blood decorating the ground now do we?" The cruel voice said, and Denali froze. That was the one voice that Rachel feared.

Janet and Tammi were furious, Zucco better not get any ideas. They had to save Denali and find Rachel. However, Denali screamed. Their heads snapped over and saw Zucco jabbed a knife in her shoulder. Then, that's when the sound of somebody approaching came.

"Zucco, stop!" Somebody screamed, and when everyone looked, they were horrified. It was Rachel, and she looked livid.

"Ahhh, the brat." Zucco sneered, But Rachel only looked at Denali, who had a expression of pain and fear.

"Zucco, you took one family away from me. I sure as hell won't let you take another from me, now, let Denali go." She said, and the team thought she was crazy.

"Now, why would I do that?" Zucco Asked, as he pressed a knife against Denali's throat. Rachel's eyes widened, and tears started to fall from her face.

"Take me instead!" She blurred out, and everyone was taken aback by her words.

"What?" Zucco Asked, clearly in shock.

"You heard me, take me instead. Finish what you started five years ago, isn't that what you've wanted? To finish off the last Flying Grayson? Well, I'm right here. Just, let Denali go." Rachel Said, and Zucco gained a crazy look in his eyes.

"Done." He said, as he threw Denali to the ground, and then grabbed Rachel. Everyone was struggling to get free, tears streaming down Janet and Tammi's faces. Rachel just looked at them all sadly.

"I love you guys, never forget that." Is all she said before she closed her eyes, Denali's eyes widened. Time seemed to slow down as Zucco drew the knife across Rachel's throat, then dropped her body.

Rachel seemed to fall in slow motion, her body twisted on the way down. She bounced when she hit the floor, and her eyes opened. Staring at her friends and family, they saw the light leaving her eyes. Screams were ripped out of everyone's throats, and tears seemed to be spewing out of the girls eyes.

Zucco was laughing, till Batman appeared out of nowhere. He knocked the man out then rushed to Rachel, and began to apply pressure to the wound.

Mathew then smacked his forehead, and used his powers. Like his uncle taught him, and began to heal the injury. It didn't even leave behind a scar, and color began to go back to her skin.

She gasped, and was coughing. Janet and Tammi seemed to get out of their bods at that moment, and rushed to their sisters side. Batman just looked at the team, and then sighed.

"The mission isn't over, I've already called the police. They're gonna arrive any moment, make sure your hero identity stays secret." Was all he said before he disappeared, Mathew quickly changed his skin to Caucasian. That's when the police arrived, and were alarmed.

Rachel was still pale, and did have injuries. So her and Denali were taken to the ambulance, while Zucco was loaded up and hauled back to prison.

The team and Janet and Tammi were given shock blankets, and escorted to where Rachel and Denali were. The two seemed to be on thin ice right now, did to the way Denali was refusing to look at Rachel.

"Rachel!" Tammi and Janet Cried out, before they dropped their blankets and surged towards their sister, then enveloping her in a group hug.

"Hey." Was all Rachel Said, as she hugged them back. The team felt that things might be better for Rachel now.

"Rachel, why did you do that?" Tammi whispered, and Rachel sighed.

"I couldn't let Zucco take someone else I care for away from me, I just couldn't. Besides, I'm just a charity case. A Romanian Orphan who was supposed to be dead, I was supposed to die that night with my family." Rachel Said as tears slipped down her face, and her words made everyone's hearts break.

"Rachel, you're not some charity case. You're smart, graceful, kind, and amazing. So what if you're from Romania? We don't care, and neither does Bruce.

What would make you think you deserve to die? I mean, so many people would be devastated if you did. Brandon, Alfred, Bruce, ma, Janet, even Denali. Even if she won't admit it." Tammi Said, and then Janet spoke up.

"Yeah, you've done so many things. You're the gymnastics captain at your school, and you're only a freshman. You and Brandon are up for spots in the Olympics, both in Gymnastics.

You also won the dancing competition, the one that almost didn't let you in cuz you both were still teens. You're even a gold medalist in the JR Winter Olympics, your figure skating is amazing.

You've not done so many things to just throw them out the window, you're not gonna help anybody if you just off yourself. Now, we want you to go work out with Brandon. You need the distraction, and it always seems to help you." Janet Said, and Rachel just nodded.

"Here, you're gonna want this." Tammi Said, as she handed Rachel her phone. Rachel thanked her, before walking off to call Brandon.

"Who's this Brandon? He's been mentioned quite a few times." Willow said, and Janet smiled.

"He's Rachel's best friend." She said, and that's when they heard someone calling out Rachel's name. They turned and saw a redhead boy running to her, and then crush her in a hug. She hugged back, and they honestly looked like a couple.

"Are they a thing?" Asked Zach, and the girls sighed.

"No, unfortunately. Yet, we all can tell they have feelings for each other. We are just waiting for them to realize this." Said Tammi, and that's when the two walked off.

"Where are they going?" Asked Cori, and the girls smiled.

"Home, to our gym. We have all the equipment they're gonna need, and their coach isn't around now. Cuz it's not a practice day, but they still know what to do." Janet Replied, as she watched her sister break into a real smile.

"Maybe this year, maybe she will have a happy birthday." Tammi Said, as she watched her sister walk with her best friend. Maybe.
