Chapter 8: Party in the Woods

Penelope's POV
After I finished getting ready I texted Jed.
Jed! You going to party tonight?
I got a instant reply.
"Hell yeah! Meet me in the main lobby?" Jed tested back. I guess me and Jed are going to the party tonight.
"Alright, see you there." After texting that I gave myself one last look in the mirror and made my way to the main lobby. I waited for about 5 min when Jed comes running down the stairs.
"Hey! Sorry I'm late." Jed said giving me a hug.
"It's okay, but dude you look good!" I said.
"Well I've been lonely for too long, but I heard about...you and Josie. Are you okay?" He asked.
"Oh um yeah. It's been 3 days and tonight I just want to get drunk and not think about her or anything else." I said. He nodded and took my hand and together we walked deep into the woods.
Lights and music filled the dark forest. Tons of people dancing and talking, it's had been awhile since I went to a party. Jed and I separated shortly after we got there. I wandered around for a little bit until I found Mg.
"Mg, pass me some." I asked him pointing to the shots next to him. He pass me three and I took them quickly. They tasted horrible but I need to feel anything but sadness. After 2 more shots and a beer I was wasted. I swayed and danced with people I never met. There was this girl I saw dancing, she was cute and I was drunk so we ended up making out and 'dancing' with each other. In the corner of my eye I saw someone, they looked familiar. I squinted my eyes and saw it was Josie. She was watching me with the girl who's name I didn't know. Angry filled me again. I grabbed the girl and started to make out with her again, but this time I had my eyes locked with Josie's. She looked sad but I didn't care she broke me and I want her to pay for that. Mg gave me a couple more shots and after that I don't remember anything else from that night.
I woke up with a massive hangover and girl in my bed. I grabbed my phone and texted Jed.
"Hey, do you remember if I did anything stupid last night?" I got up and got dressed. I check my phone and read my recent messages
To Josie❤️: Im so sorry! Baby take me back I love you!!!
From Mg🤪: Last night was fun! How's ur hangover😂?
From Jeddy: Yeah you drunk texted Josie a fuck ton after she saw u make out with that girl.
Shit.

Josie's POV
Lizzie and I got ready for the party together. I took my time, hoping that maybe I would see Penelope there.
"Come on Josie! The party started half an hour ago!" Lizzie said waiting for me by the door. We walked down together and follow the music deep into the woods. There was beer and all types of drugs there. Lizzie walked to her group of friends and I walked around looking for anyone, but mostly Penelope. I walked by a large group of drunk and dancing teens. I saw Penelope. She was dancing with people I've never met. I was going to walk towards her when I saw her grab a random girl and kiss her. In that moment I think my heart shattered into a million pieces. I could feel my legs weaken. I ran away. I ran all the way back to my room. I felt like I was going to collapse. I felt sick. When I got to my room I realized that tears were steaming down my cheeks. I laid down and just cried. I cried all that night and I don't think I stopped until I felt asleep. I woke up the next morning with bright red eyes. Lizzie wasn't there but I guess she was downstairs getting breakfast. I got dressed and check my phone. I got so many text. Some from Lizzie and most from Penelope. I didn't the text because I physically couldn't bring myself to do that. I decided to head downstairs and look for Lizzie to tell her about what happened. The second I left my room I turned and saw Penelope. Her hair was messy and her eyes were red. Maybe she regretted what happened.
"Josie. Um can we talk?" She asked. Her voice soft. I didn't know what to say but I felt a sudden rage. I took a few steps closer to her. I was so close to her I could practically hear her heartbeat. I leaned in but instead of kissing her I slapped her.
"Fuck you Penelope!" I shouted and walked away. I refused to turn away and see her face. I didn't want to ever see her face again.
