Chapter 11: The Project

Josie POV
It's been about a week since Penelope and I talked. For the first 3 days she didn't really go to any of the classes we had together, but when she did come she sat as far as humanly possible from me. At first I missed having her attention and her being close to me, but now I don't even care, sometimes I even forget she's in the room. Now that we don't talk, Hope and I started to get to know each other really well. We would hangout for hours after classes and even sneak out to talk on the roof. We would talk about numerous things like relationships, family, and school. Seeing her everyday just made my day better.
It was 3:30am, the beginning of last period. I sat next to Hope, while Penelope sat on the opposite side of the room.
"Okay class everybody choose a partner. Today you and your partner will be assigned a project, you must create a spell. The spell can be anything of your choosing." The teacher said. I looked over to Hope, we smiled at each other. Together we walked to tell the teacher we would be partners, but when I turned I saw Penelope, sitting alone. She was popular but I guess everybody in this class would rather not be partners with her or hated her. I got a weird feeling in my stomach. I couldn't just leave her to work alone.
"Hey, Hope do you mind if I work with Penelope on this one?" I asked. Hope gave me a disappointed look.
"It's been one week and you're already crawling back to her. I thought you were the one that wanted space from her." Hope said. Her words hurt, but she wouldn't change me mind.
"I'm not crawling back to her, I just care about other people and she obviously doesn't have anyone to work with so..." I said.
"Fine, but remember you and her are just friends so no kissing or anything else." She said. I smiled then turned and walked towards Penelope.
"Hey." I said. She looked up confused not expecting it to be me talking to her.
"Um hi." She muttered. She seemed happy to talk to me, but also nervous like it was the first time we met.
"You seemed a bit lonely. Do you want to be my partner?" I asked. Penelope instantly smiled.
"I would love for you to be my partner." She replied. I sat next to her and we talked about the project for a while.
"So after class do you want to meet in my room and work on the project?" Penelope asked. My heart started racing. I don't trust myself to be alone with Penelope.
"Um how about we just meet in the library. The library has more resources." When I said those words I wanted to take it back. It sounded obvious that I didn't want to be alone with her.
"Um yeah that's fine. See you there after class?" She said. Her smile slowly faded.
"Yep, see you there pal." I said as I punched her arm lightly. When the bell rang I ran to the bathroom. What was I thinking with saying "pal" and the arm punch! God that whole conversation was so awkward. I got myself together and headed to the library. I probably should have just let Penelope work alone.

~SPOILERS~Lemme rant about 1x12 cause that episode started a war, thank you Julie Plec. Okay so the Hosie shippers got EXTRA brave after that episode, but Josie clearly said "I HAD a crush on you." okay everyone she HAD a crush on Hope when she was 13! But then Penelope came into the picture and they started going out. People also started disliking Josie because of everything she's been doing. I get why people think like that but she is 16 yrs old, she's flawed and she's going to make mistakes. Josie also made Lizzie and Hope hate each other just so Lizzie doesn't go after her, are y'all hearing that LIZZIE ISN'T STARIGHT🤪 Hizzie lives matter✊🤧❤️
