Josie POV
I walked down the main hall to the library. I saw Penelope already there by the doors. I looked at the sign on the door.
Due to a misfortune event the library will be close till the following week. We apologize any inconvenience.
Damn it.
"Well the library closed so do you just want to work in my room? It's definitely quieter than the study hall." Penelope asked. I couldn't say no that would make it seem like I was scared to be alone with her, which I was, but still I didn't want her to know that.
"Sure." I said. We walked in complete and utter silence to her room. When we got to her room she closed the door behind us and everything Hope said came back to me. Penelope and I are just here to work on a project, not to do any of the other things we used to do in her room. Penelope also didn't have a roommate because she scared off everyone so badly that my dad just gave her, her own room, so nobody was going to interrupt us.
"Um so what spell do you want to do?" I asked as I sat down at the table in the corner of her room. Penelope sat on her bed which kept a safe amount of distance between us.
"How about an anti-love spell because that would be really useful right now." Penelope sighs. Wow she's really trying to make this about us.
"Well you probably wouldn't need an anti-love spell if you didn't sleep with another girl, that's just an example." I said. I wasn't trying to pick a fight, but it just came out.
"I am going to need an anti-love spell because I know you'll probably never take me back and I know for a fact, that I will never stop loving you Josie." Penelope said. Her words made me feel sorry for her. She did seem really down.
"Yep. We're never getting back together because, we don't work well with each other. We never have. We bring out the worst but also the best in each other. I've sort of always knew we would never last." I said. Everything I said was true, except the last part. I alway thought she was the one, the one I would grow old with, and the one I would start a family with. Penelope was hurt by my words, but didn't want to show it.
"We may bring out the worst in each other, but Josie, when I'm with you I forget about all my problems, the world disappeared, and my main focus is you and I know some part of you thought the same about me." She says. She wasn't wrong, every time she would walk into the same room as me, my heart would flutter and I would get butterflies in my stomach, she has always had that affect on me. I didn't know what to say. I was speechless. I couldn't tell her I felt the same about her, I can't forgive her that easily.
"It's fine you don't have to say anything. Let's just um get back to work." Penelope said. We get back to work right away. We tried as hard as we could to avoid talking to each other, but we were working together so it was pretty hard. While we were putting together our poster board about our spell Penelope's hand accidentally touched mine. I didn't move away immediately. I turned to look at Penelope who was starring at our hands. She moved so she was now holding my hand. Neither of us knew what to do next. I wanted to kiss her but I have to have some self-control. Penelope didn't want to turn to face me she just stared at our hands. I wasn't complaining about the hand holding, but we have to remember we are on a break. I let go of Penelope's hand when my phone started to ring.
"Sorry." I said. I stood up and answered the phone.
"Hello?" I said.
"Jo! Come back to our room immediately we have to talk." Lizzie shouts. I had no idea what she was talking about, but it was Lizzie so I guess it's important. I look down to Penelope who is putting the board on our poster board.
"Hey, Penny um Lizzie called and she needs me right now so I have to go, but maybe tomorrow we can work on the project a little bit more." I said. I didn't even notice I called her Penny until I saw the smile that was spread on her face.
"Yeah that fine. I'll see you tomorrow then." She said standing up. She didn't know whether to hug me or just wave so we awkwardly hugged at her door.
"Bye." I said waving. Now that that was over I hurried over to my room. What could be so important that Lizzie needed me now?
