"Oh neighbour! Please come in!" I heard their footsteps approaching the kitchen "Please sit down and have breakfast with us, we were just talking about.. the town." I almost choked on my coffee when I heard Jeremy's voice.
"Thank you!" Michael froze when he heard him and we were both afraid to turn around and look at him, which couldn't be avoided once he sat at the table right in front of us.
"Oh hi, Jeremy! How are you doing?" my mom said.
"I'm grate, thank you!" he was smiling from ear to ear. Then he looked at us. "Michael, YN, how are you two doing today?"
"I'll make you coffee!" my mom said and got up from the table. My dad officially invited the werewolf into your house. Great.
"Thank you, YMN!" Jeremy replied with a huge smile on his face, still looking at me and Michael. "How was your trip?" he asked my father.
"It was good. It was a work trip actually and my wife could come with me, so we had lots of fun too after I was done at the office."
"That's good!" I listened to Jeremy speak and at times he would sound like Michael a little... his voice and the way he moved too... How didn't I see this before? The visual resemblance and their gestures? Even their voices? I'd been really blind.
"Here's your coffee!" My mom placed it in front of Jeremy on the table.
"Thank you!" he took it and drunk from it, then placed it back on the table "It's good!"
"You're welcome!" she smiled.I couldn't believe I was witnessing my parents having a conversation with the werewolf, being polite with it and enjoying themselves. Maybe murderers had some charm that no one could explain and Jeremy was no exception.
"So what brings you here?" my dad asked.
He came to torment me and my man, that's what brings him here.
"Michael hasn't told you?" Jeremy said.
"Tell us what?" my mom asked and we all looked at Michael, who was speechless and I was really scared right now. "What's going on Michael?"
"Ahh.. n-nothing." he tried to sound normal but couldn't.
Jeremy looked at him and went on
"I see he hadn't said a word to you about what happened..." I froze right there on the spot. Is he going to tell my parents that he was the werewolf?!! "Well, that's okay. I'll tell you... Michael is not from your family..." he cleared his throat "He is my son."
"WHAT?" my parents said at the same time.
"I know this is huge news to you, but Michael is my son." Michael looked at me and his eyes told me that he had no idea about what was Jeremy trying to achieve with this. I lifted my shoulders in reply. But really.. what did Jeremy want?
"I ah.. I don't know what's going on here..." my dad said "Is this some kind of joke?"
"No, YFN! He is not Joseph's son! He's mine and Katherine's. Just look at us! He looks like me..." Jeremy stated that proudly. My parents examined Jeremy and Michael
"Michael, did you know that?" mom asked.
"I just found out that last night." he replied.
"Wow..." my mom said "How is this possible!?"
"That's a long story." Jeremy said "But I just wanted you to know that. I want to be in Michael's life from now on. I want to make up for the time I was gone."
"This is huge news!" my dad said "YN, you don't look surprised..."
"I knew too, dad... Jeremy told us last night." after he transformed into human.
"And you two didn't tell us!" my mom said. we just didn't know what to reply.
"Don't be angry with them!" Jeremy jumped in "They were shocked when I told them, so this was huge to them!" he winked at me "Besides I'm sure they were going to tell you very soon!"Jeremy had some weird power over people. He managed to calm my parents down and get under their skin. They even went as far as to tell him that he too was a part of the family now since he was Michael's father, and that he could come any time to visit us. Great. Just great.
After they were done talking, Jeremy got up to leave.
"I'll escort him to the door." I said and Michael looked at me in disapproval but I nodded my head telling him it was okay. I wanted to have a word with Jeremy.
I opened the front door and let him get out. I stepped out of the house and gently closed the door behind me, so that no one would hear. I grabbed Jeremy by the arm and pulled him towards me to grab his full attention. He looked at me with his usual smile.
"Why didn't you tell them about me and Michael?"
"Let's give them time to get used to that first, we don't want them to freak out after they hear that their daughter loves my son, who was her cousin, right?" he winked.
"Jeremy..." I whispered "is what you said last night about Michael true?" I just had to know that.
"Yes." he replied.
"Are you lying to us just to make us stay with you?"
"No, YN. I told you the truth and I knew you wouldn't believe me, but that's okay. You don't have to."
"Really?" I didn't understand what he was trying to say.
"Yes! If you don' believe me then all you need to do is observe Michael." he whispered "Closely." and added that "This will tell you if I'm lying or not." That got me scared a little... "I just want you to understand two things... First of all, I want the best for you and my son. Second of all, you're in great danger, YN." I felt the blood rushing to my cheeks and my body sweating. That man freaked me out! "If you're smart, you'll keep Michael close to me. Especially on his birthday. Oh and one more thing before I go... don't tell your friends that I'm the werewolf, this will serve you and them no good. Bye for now!"Did he just threaten me? Or was he trying to help? I wasn't sure but... one thing I knew, that man was dangerous.
I returned inside the house and found my parents talking to Michael, who looked tired and worried.
Observe Michael.
Jeremy's words echoed inside my head.
"Don't you think you should talk to your parents, Michael? Does Joseph even now?" my dad said.
"I don't think so..." Michael replied.
"This is crazy! If he doesn't know, you must tell him!" my mom said "You can't lie to him like that! You have to talk to your mother too..."
"I don't know what I'm going to do but I'm really tired now..." Michael said "I need to rest first."
