Ch. 11 Beasty, come out wherever you are!

"The beast is near us."

The howling wind came from behind me and blew through my hair strands, making the leaves rustle around us. After a few seconds, when the wind had stopped and the leaves hung still off the brunches, a deadly silence surrounded us like a thick wall.

No wind, no leaves, no owls, no sounds of us walking... only the beating heart in my ears.

How could a forest be so quite?

We stood in the circle we created in order to look for Jake, paralyzed by fear and doubts we didn't want to believe in, looking at each other and not knowing what to do.

My mind was telling me that there was no such thing as beast and that my fears were stupid, but my guts were sending signals all over my body of distarbance and fear, as if something wasn't quite right here. And where the hell did the owls from a few minutes ago disappear?

Stop it, YN! This is all bullshit! Why on Earth did you agree to do this!??  Beasts don't exist!

I wanted to leave and I wanted to do it NOW. Even if they thought of me as a loser, chicken, scaredy-cat or a little girl who wants to go home to mommy, I didn't give a fuck. All I cared about was leaving this place.

"This is stupid!" I broke the silence into pieces "I'm sorry, Daniel, but I think you need help." he raised his eyebrow at me "I'm going home. You can stay here and wait for the beast that doesn't exist for the rest of your lives or you can come with me now, I don't care!" I did fucking care, because I didn't want to return... alone. I tried to make it look as if I didn't care "But I'm outta here!" just as I took a step to leave, Daniel said
"Don't leave our group, YN... you'll be sorry. It's near us. I can feel it."
"You can feel shit!" I answered.
"Daniel, bro, I think she's right. We ain't gonna find anything here, let's head back." one of the guys suggested and the others supported him. A little conversation started about going home and God, was I happy!

"Ya'll think I'm crazy, don't you?" Daniel spoke suddenly.
"No it's not that it's just we-"
"You think I'm still in depression from seeing Chad's body, not? But let me tell you something... I'm not. And I know what I fuckin' saw! And there is no way in hell that a simple wolf did that to him... you know what.. I'm gonna prove it to you at all cost tonight." we exchanged glances as we listened to him talk and I could tell by the looks on their faces, that no one was happy. Everyone wanted to go home. "BEEEEEEEEEAST!" my thoughts got interrupted by Daniel's annoying yelling.
"What are you doing?" Jess scolded him.
"Shut up and let's go home!"
"BEASTYYYYYY, COME OUT WHEREVER YOU AAAAARE!" he started looking around even more "WE'VE COME TO PLAAYYY!"
"Daniel..." I started "please, let's leave now. We can come back tomorrow." I decided to ask him kindly this time, even lie to  him that I'm willing to do this again, only to make him leave, but no. He ignored me.
"COME ON BEAST! OR MAYBE YOU SCARED OF ME?? YOU KILLED CHAD AND NOW I'LL TAKE YOUR HEAD! SHOW YOURSELF YOU PIECE OF SHIT!"
"Ahh Daniel, I don't wanna interrupt you, but I don't think animals understand people." his friend said and we all couldn't help it but laugh.

Daniel looked at us with eyes filled with pure rage.

"So now you making fun of me, ha?" he said. "And where is Jake then if you don't believe me?"
"Probably left home. Something we should have done looong time ago. Sorry, Daniel, but you really need help. Let's go home, guys!" finally!

Finally!

Jess gave me a satisfied look. Daniel was humiliated beyound words now. I wondered how was he going to show up in school on Monday?

We turned to leave and just in the momen when I was starting to feel better, when this disturbance was slowly starting to disappear from within me, something hit one of the boys in the head so hard, that he collpased on the ground.
