"Oh Come on (Y/n)! He was at least a little cute!" Christy cried aloud as we walked. I rolled my eyes.
"I wouldn't really know, I didn't see him." I told her with a shrug.
"Bull***t (n/n), just because you can't see them doesn't mean you can't acknowledge their existence!" She told me with a small giggle.
I sighed with a smile playing at my lips.
"I suppose he did have a nice voice." I admitted. We were currently talking about the new bartender at Harrison's Tavern. Christy and I worked there as waitresses, but I usually dealt with the drinks as well."You don't think he's a snoop do you?" I asked with a small pout as I thought.
Sometimes I had a problem with finding the right drinks customers wanted, so I subtly marked the bottles to make it easier. Harrison didn't know but none of the other bar girls were snitches.
I just hoped this guy wasn't a sort of tattle tail, otherwise I could kiss my job goodbye.
"No, He's too cute for that." Christy swooned making me frown towards her.
"I'm serious." I told her, to which she laughed in reply before actually responding.
"Relax (Y/n), he tries anything and I'll bust half his teeth." She bumped me with her hip. I stumbled a bit having not expected it, but I relaxed and after a minute we reached the corner that we usually said our goodbyes on.
Christy lived alone in her own apartment as did I. Only Chris didn't know exactly where I lived nor the condition. Then again the bar gig was the only thing I had, Chris was trying to open her own fashion line and already sold outfits by the dozens. Besides my apartment wasn't bad, it had a heater, sort of, and I had rigged my own cooling system.
I hummed softly as I walked down the side walk tapping my feet against the side walk.
The reason I didn't use a stick or a dog was because, well, I didn't need them. My sixth sense was sharper since I couldn't use my eyes and I could also listen to who on the side walk was closest to me. So walking in crowds wasn't a problem.
Of course the crowds thinned as I got closer to my apartment. What I didn't expect was the sound of people thinning to almost silent. I paused with a frown before recounting the blocks I'd walked. I'd made a wrong turn. No problem, I could just turn around and head back, but as I turned around, the sound of an alarm went off.
The sound startled me, making me jump. Another sound, sharp in my ears as glass shattered and I blinked in confusion, what was happening?
Shaking my head I squinted in concentration. Someone was panting as they got to their feet, stepping on the fallen glass shards. Obviously they'd jumped out a window, but why? Where they committing a crime? The alarms indicated so.
Suddenly I felt exposed, what if the perpetrator spotted me? I was a witness, although, I wasn't really, I was blind, I couldn't identify anyone.
But the sound of footsteps approaching at an alarming rate caused me to stumble backwards, I didn't want to be anywhere near a criminal!
But as I stepped to the side, my foot slid off the side walk and my head spun. The sound of a horn blarred as something hard wrapped around my back and then I was weightless.
Did I just get hit by a car? Had someone grabbed me? Was I unconscious? Where was the pain?
Questions spun in my head when my feet hit the floor unexpectedly. I stumbled and felt someone push me 'very helpfully' onto a couch.
How did I know it was a couch? My elbows hit the back cushions and my legs hit the front, which hurt.
"Ow Hey!" I frowned, pushing myself to my feet and turning to frown at whoever had shoved me. They shoved me again, making me sit down.
"Shut up, unless you want that pretty little neck broken." They snapped in a dark tone.
I closed my mouth and my eyes, taking a deep cleansing breath. I was on a couch, but where had the couch come from? I tapped one of my feet lightly.
I wasn't bare foot but I could tell my feet were on a soft rug. Was I in a living room?
"Stop that." They growled and I sat still. What was going to happen now? Would they tie me up and dump me somewhere to die? Would they kill me immediately?
I breathed calmly through my nose until the smell of smoke filled my senses.
Every muscle in my body tensed at the mere hint of smoke and my heart started palpitating. A cough rose in my throat but I held it back, it was cigarette smoke, but that just made it worse.
"What's up with you?" They asked gruffly and I realized that I'd been holding my breath and had tears in my eyes.
I turned my face away from the sound of their voice and coughed harshly.
"I don't like smoke..." I sputtered trying to get normal air back into my lungs.
They only hummed before I smelt the smoke again, they were blowing it Directly at me!
"Stop it." I coughed until the air cleared somewhat and I heard the sizzle of the cigarette being put out.
"How much did you see?" They asked bluntly, they didn't like to beat around the bush.
"I didn't see anything." Now probably wasn't the best time to be sassy. But I wasn't really lying. I regretted my retort when I felt them grab a fistful of my hair and bend my neck backwards, probably making me face them.
"Don't lie to me." They growled in my face, I coughed at smelling smoke on their breath with a hint of mint. But it didn't hide the stench.
"I-I'm not-" I stuttered before hearing a door opened.
The person shifted also having heard the door open and we both went silent when I heard someone sigh.
"D*** it G. Keep your weird a** kinks in your own room."
