"I went back for my brother."

"It's not something I like to talk about." I said simply while turning around.

I had several ingredients on the counter and started putting them together into a sandwich. G stood behind me not moving, not saying anything else. But I could feel his eyes on me.

When I was finished making the sandwich, he finally started talking again, and I frowned as I brushed passed him, putting the ingredients away.

"What was he doing in there?"

I sighed before shutting my eyes tightly. Noise filled my head, but I shook it away.

"Screaming." I murmured. "He was two years old, what can you expect from someone that little?" I asked back while putting things away.

"Did you find him?" G asked as I went back to the counter for my sandwich.

I didn't answer. Instead I got out a cup of milk and drank it straight before grabbing my sandwich and heading back to the couch.

He grabbed my arm, he was trying to be gentle.

"Hey-"

"I said I don't like to talk about it." I told him and pulled away sitting down on the couch.

"I know...but maybe it would help." He said, making the cushion next to me sink lightly.

"Maybe it would help?" I asked glaring in his direction.

"How would it help to say I screwed up? To say I did nothing but endanger other people?!"

"Calm down, that's not what I meant." He told me gently. I bit into my sandwich to keep from screaming. I'd never told anyone about the accident.

Not even my friends, they knew I'd been in a fire and that's why I was blind but...no one knew about (b/n).

"DollFace, talk to me." He spoke after a minute when I had calmed down a little.

"I'm eating." I mumbled into my sandwich. I'd eaten half of it by now.

"You're acting like a kid, DollFace." G told me, but I could hear the amusement in his voice.

"Don't call me DollFace." I frowned at him chewing on my sandwich.

"I thought you were busy eating, Sweetheart." He teased. I took a big bite out of my sandwich and looked away.

After another minute he sighed. "Look, I know it's hard to talk about, but it seems to be helping, even if you hate me right now."

I closed my eyes, squeezing them shut. "He was unconscious when I found him. I picked him up, which is why the splinters got in my eyes. By the time a team of firefighters found us, he was dead."

I only noticed the wet streaks running down my cheeks when G tried to wipe them away.

I pulled away from him and ate the rest of my sandwich.

"Come on DollFace, let me help you ok?"
He was offering a hug, but I didn't do hugs. I didn't like people holding me, I didn't like when people tried to comfort me. The only person I made an exception for was gone, and he wasn't coming back. After a few more minutes of silence from me, he put his arms down.

"Well..I tried."

I sniffled a bit while wiping my eyes.

"So, where do you work DollFace?" He asked making me snort. Now he wanted to change the subject.

"Don't call me DollFace."
