I spun the shaker around in my hand before pouring the drink it contained into four shot glasses.

"Cheers." I nodded at the patrons seated at the bar and turned back to empty and clean the shaker.

"I'll take what ever they're having."

Chris told me as she came up to the bar.
I snorted twirling the shaker in my hand.

"You know you're not allowed behind the bar because of that." I told her making her snort.

"True, but seriously, I've got some fellas over at the back asking for some of the same drinks as the ladies." She told me and I sighed.

"Alright, how many?" I asked unscrewing the shaker.

"Four."

I hummed, it was the same number as before, I mixed a bit more into the shaker before tossing it up in the air and catching it.

"You forgot the lid." Chris told me as I poured the drink into the glasses.

"Did any of it spill out?"

"No."

"Then it doesn't matter does it?" I said emptying out the rest of the contents into the sink.

Chris sighed.

"I guess not, but that's not really shaking."

"They won't notice." I waved it off setting the shaker in the sink and washing it out.

"Alright, your funeral if one of them gets pissed."

I shook my head with a small smile, we both knew Chris would rip arms and legs off if anyone messed with me. Especially since I was the youngest one here.

I listened to her steps walking away before returning to my work, a new customer walked in the door, their step pattern was unfamiliar, but I knew they were already drunk.

"Hey."

I felt something crawl under my skin at the sound of his voice and I glared in his direction.

"Come for a drink?" I asked cocking a brow.

"I'm drinking right now."

I frowned, was he seriously this wasted?

"Drinking in the sight of you~"

I visibly shuddered and walked over slamming a hand on the counter. I didn't care if I disturbed any customers at this point.

"If you're not going to buy anything get out of here." I told him gesturing swiftly to the door.

"How about I buy some time with you?" He asked, I could practically feel his hand reaching for me and immediately reached out grabbing his wrist.

"Don't touch me." I shook my head.

"Check who's touching who, Sweetie." He hummed and I would have thrown up from the smell of alcohol drowning in his mouth if I wasn't used to it.

This man hadn't even brushed his teeth this morning, had he been drinking all day?

"Is there a problem?"

I let go to his wrist turning towards the new voice, it was G.

"Why do you keep coming back here?" I asked when I felt a hand on mine, the man next to me had grabbed my hand while my attention was diverted. I felt my hand twitch in annoyance.

"If you don't remove your hand from mine You're going to drowned in water, not alcohol." I told him with tight lips.

"Oh you don't mean that." He whispered. I hadn't heard him stand up, or maybe he'd been standing all along, but he was about to kiss me like before.

But before I even flinched away from him in surprise, he was yanked away from me.

I heard hard contact, the breaking of glass, and splintering of wood.

I blinked in surprise wishing I could see what had happened when I smelt smoke.

My throat was dry and my limbs froze up, my heart was palpitating so fast it was painful. But I couldn't move, I couldn't get away from that awful smell.

"Alright Guys, out. Take your little quarrel outside." I heard Christy call before the scent of something burning faded.

"(N/n)?" My friend asked lightly touching my shoulder.

I gasped in air that I didn't seem to want to breath before, looking over at her, I knew my face was pale.

She was silent for a minute as I swallowed silently and clenched my hands into fists.

"I think you should stay with me tonight, you're too shaken to walk home. Go to the back, I'll take the scolding for making you leave early." She told me.

All I could do was nod before I had to force my legs to take me to the back room to change.

I hated that smell, it always made my head spin, it made my ears ring in a way that reminded me of a scream, which was exactly what I felt like doing, screaming. But I didn't, I curled up in one of the dressing stalls, and listened to see if anyone was there. No one was, it was clear. I swallowed silently, took a deep shaky breath, and just sat there crying until Christy came to get me.

"We'll take my car." She told me wiping my cheeks dry.

"C'mon, get dressed."

I nodded now feeling numb as I changed into my street clothes. Chris made sure I clocked out before we left, but as we got into her car, I felt eyes on me, we were in the street, there were plenty of people walking around, but I couldn't shake the feeling we were being followed.
