"Do you believe in hell?" A student in my class asks.
"Do you believe in hell?"... Hell...hell...he..ll
"Well do you?" Again. My trail of thought shatters
"I'm thinking" I say.
"It's either a yes or a no. Do you believe in hell?" The student asks again.
I thought about it. I thought about it until it made my head hurt.
Hell...hell...he..ll
"Ugh. Nevermi-"
"Do you believe in purgatory?" My turn to ask.
"Of course not, what kind of a question is that?" His voice began to crawl underneath my skin and into my head.
Hell...hell...he..ll
"But you think there's a hell?"
"I know there is" He says.
I stare Into the wall behind him, until his face becomes a blur.
Hell...hell...he..ll
"Do you?"
"Do I what?"
I sigh. "Do you know there's a hell? Have you seen it?"
He sits back and stares at my face, as if I just confessed my love for him. I look down, avoiding eye contact.
"I haven't" he says.
I let out a fake laugh. Maybe it's real. Or I just have a sick sense of humor...
I take in a breath and look up. I see the grey ceiling and picture an inferno hell ripping through it...hell...
"What about you?" the student asks. "Do you believe in hell?"
I look down again.
"Hell?" I say. A small smirk appears on my insipid face.
I'm sick...
A couple minutes go by.
Hell.hell.hell.
"Do you?" Again.
Yes...
"No".
I get up from my chair. I head to the door, and the student laughs.
"You don't believe in hell?" He asks
I do...
"I don't" I reply.
Silence....
A sick smile feasts across my face. I face the student, causing his laughter to die out.
... I open the door.
I'm sick.
